DH went to Lidl last night. Bought this flour... I’ve just found the hole...
Was the hole there last night? If so do I speak to the shop/ take it back? but if it was why did the bag not empty itself all the way home?
The bag was left on the counter overnight? Did the hole appear then? What made the hole?

No other evidence of overnight visitors with teeth ( and been here 5 years without an invasion before.

AIBU to pretend I didnt notice it and make DD’s birthday pizza?

to pretend I haven’t seen this?

Omigod little flour loving aliens! Nuke your house from space!

Ihavethepower · 29/08/2018 10:18

Just a hole like that? No spilt flour?

What are we looking at through the hole? Is it flour? It looks empty?

hmmwhatatodo · 29/08/2018 10:29

How is that even possible and ther isn’t even a dusting of flour on it or around it? Was the bag laid like that or was it upright? I want to say practical joke but surely they would have left some flour spilt for added effect?

NoelHeadbands · 29/08/2018 10:38

Do you think that’s a rip in the space time continuum?

Be careful sticking your fingers in, it could be the portal to another adjacent universe.

paintedwingsandgiantrings · 29/08/2018 10:40

I'd send the photo to Lidl even if you're not sure.
If they have mice, they need to know.

It's really weird though. I can't work out how that hole could have been made either at Lidl or at yours without the flower being spilled.

And why haven't the rodents made a mess while eating the flour?

Aliens?!

mirialis · 29/08/2018 10:43

A mouse made a hole in some netting in our garden (and I know it was a mouse as I saw it using the hole later) - perfect circle.

LarkDescending · 29/08/2018 10:45

If the packet isn’t empty (and I agree with peachgreen that it looks empty in the photo) how close is its weight to the original 1.5 kilos?

(Of course YWBU to use any flour from this packet, but you know that).

MaiaRindell · 29/08/2018 10:46

A mouse once burrowed through an entire loaf of wholemeal bread in my old house. It was a perfect hole like that.

iklboo · 29/08/2018 10:47

There's now a xenomorph under your sink.

MaiaRindell · 29/08/2018 10:47

Bear in mind that mice are incontinent...

AnnieAnoniMoose · 29/08/2018 10:48

WTAF? No mess at all?

Has to be an alien.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 29/08/2018 10:49

I’m thinking that flour is no longer suitable for vegans

Holymosquito · 29/08/2018 10:54

The bag was full - and sealed. We store our flour in plastic containers so I just up ended the new bag into the empty box. Only saw the hole once I’d emptied it IYSWIM. Nothing of note in the flour —although I’m now too scared of what I might find to go through it for evidence—

I’ve lived in houses with mice before and kept pet rats... and I’ve never known them to leave no mess before!

brizzledrizzle · 29/08/2018 10:57

Bin it and go and buy more.

MereDintofPandiculation · 29/08/2018 10:58

Wouldn't cooking it kill the germs?

TheVanguardSix · 29/08/2018 10:58

Is the cost of the flour worth your over analysis? Probably not.

Hope the birthday pizza is deelish!

TheVanguardSix · 29/08/2018 10:59

I’m assuming you won’t use this flour. Don’t.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 29/08/2018 10:59

Send it off to the makers/supermarket and explain that you don't know if it was done in your house or not, but thought they might like to see it, just in case!

I can't imagine our pet rats being that tidy either! Did it only go through a paper outer in not a plastic inner or something? I also can't imagine having been able to up end it and not get covered....

Holymosquito · 29/08/2018 11:09

vangaurd The cost is irrelevant. The analysis is more a) do I drag DD to the supermarket on her birthday for more flour? or b) is it caused by a giant Alien spider so I need to nuke the house?

OP posts:
BlooperReel · 29/08/2018 11:12

I'd go for option B OP. Nuke the house.

ambereeree · 29/08/2018 11:14

Any droppings aroumd?

sarcasmisnotthelowestformofwit · 29/08/2018 11:18

Mouse. Blurgh!
