I flew business for the first time, put a piccie on fb. I’m normal middle class.

An acquaintance who is hugely privileged and snobby, is a Lord, commented “now we all know this is the first time you’ve flown business”.

Would you find it offensive?

Anyone else I would laugh, but not him.

OP posts:
Casmama · 27/08/2018 22:19

Best to ignore the comment entirely - he knows he’s being a dick and responding will only give him satisfaction.

EdWinchester · 27/08/2018 22:23

I would cringe at the FB 'look at me in business' tbh.

Lilondon · 27/08/2018 22:24

If it is any consolation you are not quite as bad as people who check in to the Exec Lounges. Now that's sad!

Cheripie64 · 27/08/2018 22:27

Seriously, who really cares?

CSIblonde · 27/08/2018 22:29

Sneery. Did he buy his title? (Like one of the Kardashians ex husband's who is a British)? Lord

AnduinsGirl · 27/08/2018 22:32

Tbh if I was flying business class I wouldn't put a photo of it on FB as it would seem like showing off. So I kind of think you deserved a sarky response. Sorry OP, but you did ask!
Really LusaCole ? Would you not see your friend having a nice time and getting to do something fancy and be pleased for them? :/

niknac1 · 27/08/2018 22:33

He possibly thinks he’s amazingly witty, I think I’d try to assume he was joking perhaps say something like I couldn’t help myself posting because it was exciting for me, which is the truth I imagine. If he was being snooty don’t rise to it just try to respond in an honest way if you need to respond at all because I don’t think you have to.

leghoul · 27/08/2018 22:41

It sounds to me like he was being friendly and said in jest. I can totally imagine that said as a joke.

Stop overthinking

TornFromTheInside · 27/08/2018 22:43

He's being an idiot.
Laugh it off and be honest - 'first time for everything'

If you want to sideswipe him... reply with 'Yes, it's my first time, but not your first time being an arse'

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 27/08/2018 22:44

I'd think it was a joke...

Ask him to post a picture of his first time...

MarthasGinYard · 27/08/2018 22:45

Just slightly sarcastic after seeing photo I would say.

Not terribly offensive IMO

TornFromTheInside · 27/08/2018 22:50

Must admit, putting it on Facebook won't do anybody any favours.
If you're doing well in life, just enjoy it, but remember that many others aren't. It's best just to be humble. Even if you're not intending to show off, there's no need to mention it.

Life is full of people who have to mention things. It's stops being a car, and becomes a BMW, they stop flying and start going business, or first class, they stop buying shoes and start wearing Choos.

Chocolate50 · 27/08/2018 22:52

Maybe a flyaway comment....sorry couldn't resist!

Brambleboo · 27/08/2018 22:55

I'd think the poster was petty and a bit of a idiot for raining on your parade. Why on earth would a friend want to spoil your enjoyment in this way.

TroubledLichen · 27/08/2018 22:56

What I really want to know is does he have his title on his Facebook profile? misses point of thread

Hope you had a nice flight and ignore. For next time, instagram is the more appropriate social media platform for showing off your swag 😉

Mumshotel · 27/08/2018 23:00

Just a shit joke from a nobber

WanderingTrolley1 · 27/08/2018 23:04

Why did you feel the need to post that, anyway?

Business class is no biggy.

Thehop · 27/08/2018 23:05

“Ah yes, friend, but as you’ve just shown.....money can’t buy grace, so I’ll stay humble 😘”

Doubletrouble99 · 27/08/2018 23:08

Think he's just an arse. I know some titled people and they would never say a snide thing like that.

AtrociousCircumstance · 27/08/2018 23:08

I love a PP’s response: ‘and now we all know something about you’ - use that!

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 27/08/2018 23:09

“Business class is no biggy” Hmm yeah ok. The vast majority of people fly budget, yes it is a big deal and this is exactly the sort of inane ‘treated myself’ type post that Facebook is perfect for.

If I got a response like that I’d internally be thinking what an arse, but probably wouldn’t respond. If I did, I’d probably just say “so?!”

garethsouthgatesmrs · 27/08/2018 23:09

I would judge him for that comment as would most. I can't think of a witty reply but someone will be along with a good one soon. He's made himself look like a snobby fool

Mumshotel · 27/08/2018 23:10

Business class was a biggy for me when i got upgraded on the way back from Mumbai. Christ it was fab. I was very pleased.

Ethylred · 27/08/2018 23:12

Grow up.

FabulouslyFab · 27/08/2018 23:13

I’d just delete his comment. It’s your fb post - you decide what stays and what goes!
