Holiday CF parking thread

I love a good parking thread, and never thought I’d be able to do my own!

We’re on holiday in a Devon seaside location, we have a holiday cottage with parking up on a hill above the harbour. Parking in said seaside town is quite a challenge, and I chose a cottage for me and 2DC (teens) with parking for this reason.

Parking is a supposedly double space (both belong to house) but I’ve parked dead centre across both spaces as I have a mid size 4x4. Spaces are cut into the garden, and house is up some steps. So large walls either side of spaces, no pavement so straight onto the road. Road is narrow (just about passable for two cars). Directly in front of house on other side of the road and then to the right is double yellows. To the left is no doubles, so cars park here (this house is a row of terraces and the only one with parking).

I know the rules and have done a diagram! Red Cross is our house. Black c is my car. Green lines show other houses gardens. Blue car is parked legally. Pink car is right opposite drive on double yellows.

Because of the high sided walls, I need to swing out and avoid the pillars either side - but there’s no room to! No idea who the CF car belongs to, we don’t need to get out right now but will do in a while.

Ps. I have reversed in so car is facing outwards as I thought this would be easier!

AIBU to think this is a proper CF?!

@cholka Why are 4x4s worse for the environment? Their engine sizes are no bigger these days! Mine is still a 1.4?! Exactly the same emissions just slightly higher up!?!

Powerless · 28/08/2018 01:29

@KingLooieCatz Yes! When my car broke down on a main road in town centre, I had to abandon it (long story) and I later got a call from the Police asking what was happening with it. The police have access to all the information they need!

@Gersemi Don't be so ridiculous! Police have access to all of the DVLA/Insurance Databases 🤦🏼‍♀️ Police can find anyone's phone number. Mobile or otherwise.

Gersemi · 28/08/2018 08:44

Powerless, what is ridiculous is the idea that they would do so for a parking issue. And they really don't have easy access to everyone's mobile numbers, or their employment details.

KingLooieCatz · 28/08/2018 09:17

DH is a police officer and I'm not convinced he'd agree they have access to literally all the information that they need. I'll ask him about the mobile numbers of car owners.

Ive had the police phone call “your car is blocking someone in” at work with a work car.
Magically they got it...... I couldn’t get hold of the driver on the other hand.
