The AZ governor will appoint a successor to finish out the last two years of McCain's term. State law stipulates the successor must be of the same party.

The only name I've heard mentioned is Cindy McCain, but that's pretty normal. TPTB like the widow being appointed for the 'legacy' factor and the idea they can influence her emotionally to push their agenda as 'what your husband would want'. I can't see her accepting though.

This is what Graham said to date on the loss his 'dearest friend and mentor'. He is the ideal person to call out Trump and his WH on this petty, spiteful act. But will he (or any other repug in Congress, for that matter? By his works ye shall know him

I've read that John McCain had requested his widow take over his seat. From what I've seen, she would be formidable but does 45 have any influence.

The woman in the running for Jeff Flake's seat in AZ is a Trump supporter. She is also equally self absorbed and accused John McCain of making the announcement that he was stopping treatment in order to overshadow her bus tour. Angry

There was a discussion on MJ about Senators who described themselves as friends and mentees of McCain but who didn't call out Trump even when he disrespected McCain. Both Joe and Peggy Noonan talked in code about who they meant. Another guest did say something like 'you mean Lindsey Graham'

While mourning his friend and mentor, Lindsey Graham needs to consider following in his example, stand up to Trump and come clean about whatever they are holding against him.
