I mean HOW? Just HOW?

I am an average height (5 ft 4ish) and the rail was up to my chest when me and DH went on a cruise ship 3 years ago. It was like this on the attached pic.

I have to admit I'm not a Disney fan so those don't appeal. Also they don't have casinos and I do like a bit of a turn in the casino but the facilities look nice.

LeftRightCentre · 21/08/2018 16:24

Try RC, Holly, I think you'll really enjoy it.

HollyGibney · 21/08/2018 16:29

I'm looking at a short RC cruise out of Southampton just to try it out. I know the short ones can be a bit Booze Cruise but I don't really drink and it's just me and two teenagers so I think we could easily avoid that angle and it could be good for us. Cruises are SO addictive! Grin

LeftRightCentre · 21/08/2018 16:33

Try it out! RC is pretty strict on behaviour and there's definitely no pressure to drink. Cruising is definitely addictive!

HollyGibney · 21/08/2018 16:36

I'm soooooo tempted!

LeftRightCentre · 21/08/2018 16:37

My son is on it right now, fantasy cruising.

Hoozz · 21/08/2018 16:49

Great for teenagers. I would never have considered a cruise but a friend recommended it as a good family holiday with teens and she was right.

youarenotkiddingme · 21/08/2018 16:53

I've also considered cruise from S'ton with teen ds because it's local!
He, however would probably spend the whole time panicking in a life jacket! He's bad enough when I take him on a plane 😂

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/08/2018 16:59

I actually really want to see a Disney Cruise ship, one is docking near me next month and I'm planning to go over.
Just to see the ship up close, apparently they are pretty impressive.

HollyGibney · 21/08/2018 17:04

They're fab @IHaveBrilloHair. I know Disney isn't for everyone but we love it and their ships are just amazing and yes, magical. They're not overly Disney if it's NOT your thing, the night club/bar areas are fab. I think that must be The Magic you'll see as that's the only one that comes to Europe. Have been on that one twice. If you stay till it leaves you'll hear the wish upon a star horn.

Kewcumber · 21/08/2018 17:05

Yes I'd avoid the

Hoozz · 21/08/2018 17:12

I have been known to just go backwards and forwards on the tender a few times if the weather is nice and choppy!
Mind you don't fall in.

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/08/2018 17:13

I live across the river from a Cruise port and never bother, but I have a weird thing about Disney food which is how I came across the ships and really want to see one up close, I'll definitely wait for the horn,
An actual Disney Cruise definitely isn't for me, but I think I'd enjoy a cruise from that port, given where it is its mainly cold places though, brrrrrrGrin

LeftRightCentre · 21/08/2018 17:14

Oh, Kew, that sounds wonderful! I hate tender ports. I just like to get right off, not face another queue. And you have to start heading for the ship earlier to get the tender. Although I have to admit, the tender to Belize City is a very pretty ride.

HollyGibney · 21/08/2018 17:16

@IHaveBrilloHair the food on Disney Cruise ships is amazing. I turn into a big 🐷 the minute I step aboard.

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/08/2018 17:23

I love the idea of dressing for dinner each evening and having a proper meal.
Also the Disney ships milk and cookies room service thing.

I know far too much about cruise food/Disney food than is healthy, and I've never done either!

HollyGibney · 21/08/2018 17:23

I think we FB know each other 😉

EnglishGirlApproximately · 21/08/2018 17:31

kewcumber I’ve been mulling over that itinerary! I prefer RCI bit prefer the Caribbean ports P&O sail to so it’s a dilemma. Can’t beat RCI from Southampton it’s my favourite holiday, just booked for next year Smile

HollyGibney · 21/08/2018 17:38

I'm so worried about booking anything for next year as supposedly Brexit could affect flights to return. I'm not one for fear mongering but it's difficult to know what's going to happen.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 21/08/2018 17:39

my father died mid cruise, he was taken ill on board ship and medivaccd to the nearest hospital which was Tahiti but sadly died three days kater

HollyGibney · 21/08/2018 17:44

I'm so sorry @FiveGoMadInDorset Thanks

LeftRightCentre · 21/08/2018 17:46

I'm so sorry, Five.

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/08/2018 17:48

So sorry five, that must have been really difficult for you xxx

I think the media - and this thread- are bullying a person who may have tried to commit suicide. Not nice
