Okay, I was mning on my phone a bit whilst there, but after a previously shit couple of hours on Friday with MIL on the palliative ward, I thought fuck it, so I went to Carluccio's on me tod. It was heaving but I had no problem getting a table for one. Had 2 negronis and a salad
I used to do this occasionally when I lived abroad but have never had the bollocks to do it here. I felt so grown up am 46

If you're in London next time try the cafe at the National Gallery. Great.

Done this for the first time last year on holiday while my family were doing an activity I didn’t want to join in on. Really enjoyed it, next step cinema on my own.

I remember the time when I wouldn't eat on my own (in public) let alone sit in a restaurant on my own. I can't remember when it changed, but I now enjoy dining on my own, I can enjoy the food of my choice and read or people watch, whichever I'm in the mood for.

I did this on Friday for the first time as was ditched by the teens for better offers and I LOVED it!!

No waiting on anyone else to choose what they want. No suggestions of sharing. Just peace.

I'm astonished anyone would think it isn't normal!

If I'm travelling by myself - which I do a fair bit, either for work or because the kids are with their father - then yes, I will probably eat in a restaurant. On my own.

If I prefer to get room service or a takeaway obviously I'll do that, but if there's a good restaurant nearby of course I'll eat out. Why on earth not?

My kindle lives in my bag, but I do also faff about on my phone.

I'm really surprised anyone thinks it's an unusual thing to do.
