Help me to understand antivaxxers

A very intelligent close friend of mine has told me she does not vaccinate her children. She has done loads of research and believes her decision is well informed. Today she told me all about how diseases go through cycles and polio and smallpox were already on their way out when their respective vaccines were introduced. Hence, the vaccine was not responsible for their eradication. I don’t understand this. I’ve looked at the data and for the life of me I cannot understand how anyone could think that the sudden decrease in these illnesses could not be because of the vaccine. Is anyone here able to explain this logic to me please?

@Emily7708 is there any thinking on why it affects some children but not the vast majority? Is it an allergic reaction of some kind?

DragonCat · 17/08/2018 23:19

Not every vaccine is necessary. Flu jabs every year? No, thank you.

Emily7708 · 17/08/2018 23:23

No it seems to be a Russian roulette situation, although if the child was premature, has low weight, has digestive issues or allergies then caution should really be taken. My other children were fine, although I had them tested and they did also have high levels of toxic metals in their system, similar levels to my DS. They just must have been robust enough to withstand the vaccines.

abbsisspartacus · 17/08/2018 23:25

Vaccine damage is very rare these days and antivaxxers always give american ingredients and stats like it proves anything at all in England where we have different suppliers vaccines and ingredients 🤦‍♀️

PerverseConverse · 17/08/2018 23:30

It's not possible to understand stupid so don't waste your time trying.
I've always wished that we could vaccinate against stupid.

Emily7708 · 17/08/2018 23:33

abbsisspartacus please show me the research to back up your statement that vaccine damage is rare these days? It’s actually increasing year on year but kept quiet so people will continue using vaccines. And we actually use the exact same vaccines with the same ingredients as the US.

RedneckStumpy · 17/08/2018 23:33

The thing with data is you can make it say whatever you want it to. It just depends on how you analyze it

abbsisspartacus · 17/08/2018 23:35

I don't understand what you mean about heavy metals in a vaccine? they are no where near any levels to cause harm and they are removed so only traces if that remain chances are there was something else in the vaccine that caused the issue and the heavy metal came from another source

Emily7708 · 17/08/2018 23:38

These are the actual ingredients

abbsisspartacus · 17/08/2018 23:39

No we don't use the same they routinely vaccinate for chicken pox for example and we don't, they have different combination of vaccines a different program all together and as for proof? I don't need to prove anything to you, your a stranger why should I be bothered about your opinion it's mine that matters they are my kids and I vaccinate them because I love them and if they died of measles tomorrow and I had chosen not to vaccinate I would never forgive myself

abbsisspartacus · 17/08/2018 23:41

Your ingredients are wrong we use porcine in the UK not bovine and the use of monkey cells is illegal

MervynBunter · 17/08/2018 23:45

That is not a list of UK ingredients. Where does it come from?

abbsisspartacus · 17/08/2018 23:45

Laughably none of your "ingredients" contain the actual disease they are vaccinating against which is the primary function of the vaccine

PerverseConverse · 17/08/2018 23:45

As a specialist nurse who immunises children as part of the NHS programme that is just sheer propaganda Emily7708. I trained for 3 full days in order to immunise and was given a thorough education on vaccine development and manufacture including ingredients from one of the UK's highly regarded consultants in infectious diseases and immunology. I'm sorry about your child but please don't spread misinformation.

abbsisspartacus · 17/08/2018 23:47

It's American propaganda bag of Shiite

Emily7708 · 17/08/2018 23:47

What propaganda am I spreading?!

abbsisspartacus · 17/08/2018 23:52

I've put the nhs link up follow it and read it including the ingredients you will see the difference

Emily7708 · 17/08/2018 23:53

Ooh three full days - forgive me while I bow to your amazing expertise.

I’ve been living with vaccine damage for fucking years! The government gave me £120k after admitting destroying my child with the DTAP vaccine. That’s an absolute fact, not propaganda!

Crunchymum · 17/08/2018 23:58

My anti vaxxer friend told me that "her" homeopath said not to vaccinate.

Said homeopath had 3 kids, all in their late teens. I told my friend to ask her homeopath if her kids were vaccinated. They were.

Friend got her baby vaccinated.

PerverseConverse · 17/08/2018 23:58

Emily7708 there is no need to be rude. I am sorry about what has happened to your child. £120k is a pitiful amount to be honest in the face of life changing injuries. It's often millions. The list of ingredients you shared is not factual. 3 days training to immunise is not to be sneered at thank you. What the consultant who taught me doesn't know about immunology is probably reduced to what hasn't been discovered yet. He is a very knowledgable, intelligent man, who's expertise is based on empirical evidence and decades of scientific research.

Emily7708 · 18/08/2018 00:01

It’s the set amount you are awarded in the UK for vaccine damage. It lasted us about four years

www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/242813/response/599844/attach/html/2/Reply%20DE904995.pdf.html

In 2014 less than 1000 were awarded vaccine damages. There were just over 6000 claims made. Not sure where the 41,000 figure comes from that Emily has quoted. Maybe the other 35,000 haven't made a claim.

Emily7708 · 18/08/2018 00:08

It’s incredibly hard to claim - they make you jump through hoops for years. They pick apart your entire life. Most just give up, some don’t know about it until it’s too late to claim. Some just don’t bother or can’t face it. Everyone has their own story.
