To be considering A&E?

DH just come home from playing golf with a friend and he said his foot just started hurting half way round, he carried on and now it's unbearable. He's not one to complain and has a high pain threshold but he's in agony. He can't walk, putting any pressure on it makes him nearly throw up in pain. He says can't do A&E as he hasn't injured himself so it isn't an emergency. Doesn't look swollen or red but veins are quite protruded. Any ideas? I just want to take him to the hospital. Never seen him like this. Posting here for traffic really sorry

I'd say possible blood clot too. A&E.

RavenLG · 14/08/2018 22:56

Christ, no one is qualified on here to pass judgement what it could be, especially based on limited information.
Please phone 111 and don’t listen too “it could be x,y,z” you’ll worry yourself sick!

maddiie · 15/08/2018 00:04

We are in A&E. Pain is getting worse and has made him throw up now. Taken ibuprofen hours ago and apparently no improvement. Hopefully won't be long until he gets seen

I'm interested to hear what the results are now you're in A&E. They might refer you down to OOGP collab if they have one. In future the NHS choices website has really good advice for a range of ailments, - from the limited information provided it sounds like your partner fits into 'go and see your gp bracket'. I would be surprised if A&E X-Ray without a trauma unless there are underlying signs of systemic disease or they doubt/disregard the no trauma sentiment.

111 might have been useful for getting an OOGP apt which would have avoided waiting in A&E but there's not much else they could do to diagnose the cause of the pain.

Hope nothing to serious. Glad your husband came to his senses and seeking some help Smile

How is he now?

ThatsWotSheSaid · 15/08/2018 07:33

Hope all is well OP. I think most of us can be too cautious about going to A&E to avoid being ‘one of those people’. If someone’s in that much pain it’s worth checking it.

OllyBJolly · 15/08/2018 07:34

I've found 111 to be excellent. Great advice, ambulances sent, hospitals ready to receive. Great service

QOD · 15/08/2018 07:45

My dh is the biggest baby - he reacts like this to everything

JLG19 · 15/08/2018 08:39

How did you get on in A&E? Hope your DH is more comfortable now.

Tomselleckhaskindeyes · 15/08/2018 08:39

He will end up in a and e for an x ray so just go.

THEsonofaBITCH · 15/08/2018 15:01

Hope you guys had a good outcome and got some rest!

3luckystars · 15/08/2018 15:07

I wonder what happened? Can a bone really just break like that (if that's what it is) That's amazing.

ladydickisathingapparently · 15/08/2018 16:56

Stress fractures can - not uncommon especially in the foot. Unfortunately they don’t always show up on X-ray until the break starts to heal.

Stormwhale · 15/08/2018 17:01

How is he op?

PrincessConsuelaBannanaHammock · 15/08/2018 17:07

Hope everything is ok! I think most people are scared to be a pain and go to A & E if not needed but if he's in so much pain it's defo worth getting checked

Shambu · 15/08/2018 17:14

from the limited information provided it sounds like your partner fits into 'go and see your gp bracket

I don't agreed vomiting from prolonged pain fits the go and see the GP category.

JessyJames · 15/08/2018 17:53

Gout? It can be excruciatingly painful.

Danceintherain2018 · 15/08/2018 17:57

How is he op?

SinkGirl · 15/08/2018 18:02

Hope he’s okay OP

LakieLady · 15/08/2018 18:28

I hope it's nothing too alarming OP. Any chance of an update?

namechange2pointoh · 15/08/2018 18:30

Hope he is ok?

maddiie · 15/08/2018 21:15

Sorry for lack of update - tendinitis apparently. They didn't do much more than put a bandage on it and give him some crutches so we'll see how he gets on. Still in agony every time the painkillers start to wear off
