To be fed up of colleague talking about her holiday?

LauraKaren · 12/08/2018 10:17

That happened 4 years ago!

She even got me over to her computer to show me her itinerary Hmm

I can be happy for people and when they come back from holiday I of course want to hear about it, see photos etc

BUT when they’ve been banging on about it for the 2 years I’ve kmown them and it wasn’t even recent then, aibu to just want to scream - shut up already!

I know livefornaps ! I had a bit more patience with her after that...

LauraKaren · 13/08/2018 12:29

It doesn’t give context in the slightest. It’s just irks people that I won’t say.

I think constantly talking about any event 4 years after it happened is odd. I thought I was being reasonable by the replies, but then we had the thread police lying on the floor crying and stamping their feet.

Confused so strange

Was the holiday something really special? I'm imagining that she feels that it shows that she has really made it in life, so she keeps reminding everyone of her defining moment. I don't know if you watch Friday Night Dinner (bit random I know!)...but there's a character who keeps on referring to her Mercedes at every opportunity as if she just has to remind everyone how important/wealthy she is!

I would find your colleague really annoying and I would either deliberately change the subject or have a bit of fun and gently take the Mick!

auntyflonono · 13/08/2018 12:45

Make a check list, next time she tells you about it tick thing off the list.

Stuckinthis · 13/08/2018 12:53

How in the world is giving a holiday destination outing? You do realise millions of people go on holiday every year and the likelihood is that your holiday destination has 100,000s visitors Hmm

LoisWilkerson1 · 13/08/2018 13:00

Where ever it is, I want to go there. I barely remember my holiday four years ago. It must have been amazing. Maybe she's just one of these people who like to drone on and on. We all have one. Just smile, nod then back away slowly.

Notasunnybunny · 13/08/2018 13:02

Nothing identifiable about posting the destination! But it does give some context. Starting to doubt the whole thing.

Notasunnybunny · 13/08/2018 13:04

AIBU? No I won’t give details. Biscuit

JacquesHammer · 13/08/2018 13:07

I’m laughing at holiday details being outing. Unless it was to the moon, you’re pretty safe Grin

Maybe she just had a really amazing time? Maybe it was an incredible experience?
Maybe things are pretty rubbish however many holidays she’s been on and she likes to remember a nice time.

I really love hearing about people’s holidays!

5foot5 · 13/08/2018 13:07

It doesn’t matter where she went, I’ve been there myself.

Well maybe there is a clue there. Perhaps she thinks you will be interested because you have this place in common. Could it be that she struggles to find any other topic where you have a shared interest and she is just trying to be friendly? Is it only you she does this with?

Does she ask you about your time there?

I must admit that at first I thought this was somebody who had not travelled much so this was her one big adventure, hence her enthusiasm for it. But you say she has had other holidays? Does she not talk about them, or do they just not compare?

CrispsAndDip · 13/08/2018 13:30

OP could you at least pass on her details as we'd all like to hear about her holiday

haha!

dingdongdigeridoo · 13/08/2018 15:32

Unless she’s holidaying on Tristan da Cunha, it’s hardly going to be outing.

Maybe she’s just bad at small talk and since you’ve been to the same place, she thinks you’ll be interested.

Namehunting001 · 13/08/2018 15:43

Pointless thread Biscuit

DailyMailFail101 · 13/08/2018 16:01

OP I feel your pain, my PIL still talk about a cruise they went on over ten years ago EVERY time I see them, I didn’t care at the time and funnily enough still don’t! I’ve put it down to having done nothing interesting since perhaps she’s the same....

makemineasingle · 13/08/2018 16:32

Can we guess?
Was it Thailand Vietnam and Cambodia?

ScrumpyCrack · 13/08/2018 16:47

Between the Valium thread and this one, MN is really annoying today.

LauraKaren · 13/08/2018 16:47

But it’s not just me she does it to. Someone dared to mention their recent holiday was magical and she quickly interrupted with - yes but it’s not as magical as where I went.

OP posts:
Seeingadistance · 13/08/2018 18:10

Was it Saltcoats?

MismatchedStripySocks · 13/08/2018 21:38

This is a pointless thread Biscuit Not sure why the OP is refusing to say where her annoying colleague went on holiday Hmm Troll??

daffodillament · 13/08/2018 23:05

Tell us where the destination was or it didn't happen.

BasilFaulty · 13/08/2018 23:09

What is with all the biscuits???? Seriously, what has OP actually done wrong here???

I am so confused.

The only thing odder than your colleague is the weird posters being needy on here OP.

YANBU. She sounds very very tiring.

Teenagemaw · 14/08/2018 14:14

Please can you PM some of us with the destination??? Grin Seriously guys chill out with the biscuits!!!

Upsy1981 · 14/08/2018 16:53

My money is on Florida!

I'm going next year. Its costing us a fortune, we are saving like crazy. I may well be talking about it in 4 years time!

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 14/08/2018 16:58

at Saltcoats Grin

NotSureThisIsWhatIWant · 14/08/2018 19:44

My colleagues do it all the time, talking about amazing all inclusive and Disneyland/world holidays, which is the last thing I’m interested in as I hate both kind of holidays... but they just go on, and on, and on, and on... even if it clear you don’t want to hear about them...
