Or ask that dh leaves it to me to do (I don't mind doing it all if needs be).

Apparently this is too much to ask. Currently clothes beung ruined bybwashing together.

Unless it is something new I never separate and never had any issues with colour running, infact I have had people comment how white ds polo shirts are at school!

Mrsmadevans · 11/08/2018 18:54

I do the washing hanging out bringing in folding ironing and putting away , if l left it to anyone else in the house the clothes are terrible.

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 11/08/2018 19:43

I never separate anything and have no issues.

Sorry, but I just don't believe that. I can tell just by looking at the kids in my class whose parents separate the whites from the darks washing. Some have pristine and sparkling white shirts, others are a dingy, dull grey.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 11/08/2018 19:49

You need to wash something of his alongside something that you knows runs colour. Men can be completely inept until it personally affects them Hmm.

Sirzy · 11/08/2018 19:53

Don’t believe it that’s fine. But my whites are perfectly pristine!

onanothertrain · 11/08/2018 19:56

I rarely seperare white and colours and have never had any mishaps. Give him break.

CookPassBabtridge · 11/08/2018 20:00

Never seperated washing in my life, cannot be faffed with that.

Dh is like this. I have separate laundry basket for me and ds and he does his own!

Minta85 · 11/08/2018 20:13

I never separate clothes - I put everything in with a Colour Catcher sheet and all comes out fine.

NapQueen · 11/08/2018 20:16

I dont separate at all. We load the washing machine as we undress and when there is a loads worth it goes on.

If we have masses of laundry (rainy season or post holiday) I sort per person. So I do four loads (2 adults two kids), wash, dry put away. In order of whose is most urgent. The 3yo has the most clothes so his wash is done last.

All my whites are white.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 11/08/2018 20:19

Oh come on it’s not bloody rocket science!
Divide the wash into whites, darks and light colours.
Washing them all together results in all your clothes being GREY!

GreenTulips · 11/08/2018 20:23

Nobody died from having a school too going a bit gray.

Who's standing there judging?

Hmm
Aintnothingbutaheartache · 11/08/2018 20:47

Much as I loved my mum, and I did/do dearly, she was a shite washer.
Everything was bunged in together.
I lost count of the number of jumpers she shrank and clothes never came out of the washing machine the same colour they went in.
I have a very clear memory of being at junior school and being absolutely thrilled cos I had new WHITE socks. White that is, until she washed them 😏

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 11/08/2018 20:49

I don't separate. My OH likes to do his own shirts and iron them. Sorted.

Sallystyle · 11/08/2018 20:49

Never separate and never had issues.

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 11/08/2018 20:52

Nah everything in together here with colour run sheets. Can't be bothered separating and better things to spend my money on. Only thing that has a separate wash at the moment is bedding because they've been grim in the heat and have needed a 60 wash.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 11/08/2018 20:52

Would you seriously wash a pair of jeans with a white t shirt?!
Animals!

Thomasinaa · 11/08/2018 20:56

Why do you need to separate clothes? We never do, and have no problems?

BarbaraofSevillle · 11/08/2018 21:10

I save any need to separate washing by not having any white clothes. Much simpler, although not possible for anyone with uniform requirements.

Bedsheets are pale grey and supposed to be that colour.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 11/08/2018 21:12

YABU. I chuck it all in and wash it at 30.

funnelfanjo · 11/08/2018 21:53

YANBU - dingy grey whites really bother me too. I also get annoyed by dark coloureds fading (eg around the seams), so use a colour-friendly detergent but chuck in some vanish white on the whites wash which helps keep them dingy-free.

Have some leggings that are not cheap and they are still shedding colour after a dozen washes. Have some m&s towels that are over 5 years old that still shed colour, got knows how.

Apparently my laundry requirements are so complex that I’ve had to run up an excel spreadsheet for DH with the types of laundry and machine program/detergent combos. In reality, he just washes his own stuff with whatever detergent is to hand and is happy with that, although i find it a bit irritating him doing half a load when he could have made it up to a full load with my stuff. Although I do seem to have got through that the drum shouldn’t be more than three quarters full and the clothes do need to be able to move/rotate in the drum. He used to ram everything in and they only got wet and a rinse at best and his shirt armpits used to be solid with deodorant that never fully came out. Hmm

EmUntitled · 11/08/2018 22:31

I don't separate stuff unless there is a new strongly coloured item, in which case I would wash that with similar colours the first few times. Most of my washing goes on at 30 and I haven't had any issues with colour running or staining.

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 12/08/2018 08:52

I wonder if all those people declaring they never separate a washing load are the same people who swear their houses don't smell of dog and that no one knows they smoke because they neck a couple of polo mints now and again.
