AIBU?

I think that every post & responder should label themselves

Attention!

MN is so bloody subjective. It’s impossible to qualify / quantify the audience & responders to a post without some measurable criteria.

MN- I think you are deliberately ignoring this because it suits you.

How much more telling would it be if each poster could be categorised according to the following, as a minimum:

Age
Family income or Socio-economic group
U.K. location

I’m sure there are many other categories.

What do you reckon? Or does it suit MN to ignore this perspective?

Strange post for a stealth boast. Why on earth do you need someone's 'credentials' in order to reply to them.

Nope, I take it extremely seriously and spend what seems like half my fucking life telling DC not to post too much personal info online.

wasn't one of the comments at about the time of Jefferygate that MN was a good site to hit because middle-aged women are so lousy at even the basics of cyber security?

Oooh, a wind back to chatrooms of the 90s. Everyone's first question was A/S/L. Nostalgia!

OP will you allow me to post?
I can't give a UK location, on account of living in foreign parts. Does that make my opinion invalid?

Is this a journalist for BBC Essex, or a drunk thread. Kind of funny I'm wavering between the two.

Morning all!!! Drunken post - apologies 🤪 🤪

There are times when I think giving location would be useful (eg some property or weather threads) but it’s also one of the things many people don’t want to give. Personally I don’t care who knows I live in Wokingham (property prices ridiculous, and very rarely gets thunderstorms for some reason) but I can see that it might be more outing for some people.

Do you think providing this info would make any people less judgmental than they already are? like hell it would. It would make it worse.

People draw far too many false conclusions about gender, income, marital status, sexuality, ethnicity already.

Age - younger than my parents, older than my DCs
Sex - yes please (ah, the feministy regrets I have for using this as a childish response and it's influence on changing "sex" to "gender" on forms...)
Gender - is an oppressive social construct (natch...)
Location - Wales
Social economic group - underclass!
Education - not enough for my actual intelligence level Wink
Pets - buried out the garden. I have a sad knack for pets not living very long :(
Hair - dyed
Tattoos - many
Religion - complicated
Health - mainly shit
Mental health - often shit
Music - rock and metal 🤘
TV - documentaries about the apocalypse or various disasters

Mn outing potential based on answers - probably not too high but not particularly bothered 😂

I think a better option would be:

How much have you had to drink in the last 24 hours.
Taken any drugs before coming online?
Have you been recently scorned by a neighbour or loved one?

Helps us get a handle on the context!
