To ever cook for dp again ?

Rottweilers1 · 10/08/2018 17:57

I always cook the fucking dinner. Every night.
Dp kicks off over combination, makes me feel like shit.

AIBU to just not cook tomorrow or ever againand when he asks when dinners ready give him a blank stare Grin or is that too petty?

Looking at a plate of broccoli, potatoes, carrots and gravy I would be wondering where the rest was but that's ok because I cook for myself so would never face that problem.

But that wasn't the only thing served was it? OP served crispbakes as well, which are like vegetarian fish cakes

Grumpyoldblonde · 11/08/2018 21:34

I offer 2 choices - take it or leave it.
You don't like my cooking then make your own.

TeacupTattoo · 12/08/2018 07:04

It's the huffiness I wouldn't be able to abide! You're not being petty, politeness would have been for him to just not eat the part he didn't want!
I cook all the time, my husband can't cook but he will always thank me for everything - though he does jokingly say I hide chickpeas in everything Grin. Tell him you don't feel appreciated.

amilosingitor · 12/08/2018 07:11

I'm unsure as a grown man why he mentioned it like he needs to tell you what he ate but why does it matter if he didn't eat the broccoli? Jeez

scottishfrisby · 12/08/2018 08:48

I don't think it's he fact that he didn't eat the brocolli that's the problem.

If he had left the brocolli but said 'I'm sorry OP the brocolli wasn't to my taste so I've left that but everything else was delicious thank you' that would have been better as it would have showed gratitude and an ounce of giving a crap for OPs feelings.

OP - YANBU.

@amilosingitor
Coming in like a petulant child and announcing he didn’t eat the broccoli is what annoyed me.

I would have shoved that crispy bake up his hole. He who cooks chooses

PerverseConverse · 15/08/2018 17:47

Here you go OP. Thanks to you I've craved this for days and now finally have it Smile

To ever cook for dp again ?
YeTalkShiteHen · 15/08/2018 18:10

PerverseConverse that looks gorgeous!

PerverseConverse · 15/08/2018 18:12

@YeTalkShiteHen they are the M&S ones. It looks very unexciting but really tasty. Unfortunately my gastritis inflicted stomach has objected passionately to it and I'm now in a lot of pain and chomping antacids.

YeTalkShiteHen · 15/08/2018 18:15

Oh no! Have you tried Colpermin? It’s the only thing that helps ease my stomach when it’s bad.

I got some today, went to M&S specially!

CherryCherryCherry · 15/08/2018 18:18

poodlesGrin would that be his pie hole ?I suspect not.... Grin

Rottweilers1 · 15/08/2018 18:22

Perverse you are welcome haha.

YANBU. I do all the cooking in our house during the week because I work from home and finish earlier and also (the real reason) because I like to choose what we eat Grin
DH does a mega brunch and meals at the weekend and any other time I decide I can't be arsed.
He's smart enough to know he's got it VERY good and happily eats whatever is put in front of him.

He's behaving like a huffy child. Tell him if he doesn't like it, he can sort himself out. I'm sure those combinations he's so princessy about will suddenly seem a lot more appealing...

C0untDucku1a · 15/08/2018 18:37

Pmsl at just serve the meat you made the gracy from Grin

Bonkerz · 15/08/2018 18:40

My dh buys his own food and cooks for himself.

Guienne · 15/08/2018 18:42

(Misses the point) Doesn't the gravy make the crispbake soggy?

PerverseConverse · 15/08/2018 18:42

@YeTalkShiteHen yes I'm on that, buscopan, lansoprazole, maalox/antacids and lots of painkillers. GP thinks it might be an ulcer caused by reflux. Hope you like the crispbakes!

YeTalkShiteHen · 15/08/2018 20:01

Argh that sounds awful, I hope you find a resolution/something that helps soon!

They’re in the oven now! Grin

Rottweilers1 · 16/08/2018 09:17

@Guienne
Potato barrier to avoid unnecessary sogg.

My DH rarely cooks. One of the reasons behind this is that he thought making dinner out of broccoli with a cheese sauce was adequate. The cheese sauce was made from some bizarre cheese with huge wedges of pineapple and small bits of candied ginger in it.

After 30 years of cooking evening meals I am totally bored of taking responsibility for what my family eat, I used to like cooking (actually trained as a professional chef) but now I find thinking & planning the meals utterly tedious. And before anyone accuses me of being a 50s housewife although I was born in the 50s I do have loads more free time than my DH so I think it is fair that I cook BUT it is just so boring to think of meals that we all enjoy night after night. I nearly cried today when DH cancelled his night away in a hotel & cheerfully said 'I'll be home for dinner after all'. Blush At the same time I would hate anyone else to plan & cook my meals for me, I want to take responsibility for what I eat. Don't know what the answer is, best to live alone probably.
