Rottweilers1 · 10/08/2018 17:57

I always cook the fucking dinner. Every night.
Dp kicks off over combination, makes me feel like shit.

AIBU to just not cook tomorrow or ever againand when he asks when dinners ready give him a blank stare Grin or is that too petty?

I would have just ignored him personally. Like I would a child that didn't eat their broccoli. It's not a thing to stress over. If you want him to cook though, you need to tell him that.

randomchap · 10/08/2018 19:10

Why do you do all the cooking? Does he have some kind of pots and pans allergy? It seems really old fashioned that you do all the cooking like a 1950's housewife. Make the fucker cook regularly

LongSummerDays · 10/08/2018 19:15

Easy. He can plan, shop for, prepare and cook all the meals for the next week (or two).

I don't always eat the broccoli either

DailyMailGoAway · 10/08/2018 19:33

Well, it sounds like the meal lacks protein. So that is a bit unreasonable -- a plate of just veg in various forms is not a meal.

@Medea13 What if the OP and her family are vegetarian/vegan and don’t eat fish or meat? Hmm

PinkHeart5914 · 10/08/2018 19:36

Seriously what is this mumsnet obsession with protein? 😂 ffs I’ve never known anyone in real life talk about protein as much as on here!

NewYearNewMe18 · 10/08/2018 19:37

If he doesn't like broccoli, why do you put it on his plate ?

Medea13 · 10/08/2018 19:45

@DailyMailGoAway

Even vegetarians and vegans need protein! Cheese, nuts, tofu, quorn, tempeh, seitan soya, eggs...

YeTalkShiteHen · 10/08/2018 19:53

There is nothing less attractive than a man that whinges and whines.

I’d cook, but I’d never shag him again! Grin

waxy1 · 10/08/2018 19:55

Why not serve up the meat you made the gravy from?

Celebelly · 10/08/2018 19:59

What's even more unreasonable is that he didn't eat the broccoli. What kind of monster is he? Broccoli is amazing.

Hercules12 · 10/08/2018 20:03

Are there really relationships in this day and age where the woman does all the cooking? Read wifework, op.

CallipygousElephant · 10/08/2018 20:05

Waxy I have typed out multiple responses to your comment but ultimately have decided it must surely be a joke???????????

Notwittyenough · 10/08/2018 20:07

Why not serve up the meat you made the gravy from?

Waxy - really? You’ve never heard of granules?Hmm

misses point of thread

rubyjude · 10/08/2018 20:14

He sounds like my five year old.

arethereanyleftatall · 10/08/2018 20:17

Whether you should always make the dinner or not depends entirely on how the rest of the work load is split.
For example, (not saying this happens in your case, you haven't said), if one person earns all the money, does all the childcare, and all the cleaning, it'd be a bit rich for the other to say 'I do all the fucking cooking.'

Mind, I do all the cooking in our house, and dh is always appreciative, regardless of what it is.

Shoxfordian · 10/08/2018 20:18

Does he do anything else around the house?
Stop cooking for him

rubyjude · 10/08/2018 20:19

If my five year old gives me lip about my cooking, he doesn't eat. I won't have him growing up to be ungrateful - literally gave his dinner to the foxes to eat the other night because he had a tantrum that it wasn't desirable enough for him (for info, if he gets hungry later, there's a fruit and veg bowl he's free to eat as much as he likes from. But I won't have him messing me around/being rude about what he gets given for his meals). If my husband treated me like yours treats you - Gosh, I'd be so mad, like you seem. How dare he treat you like that? It's so rude! And massively entitled/disrespectful. Ungrateful spoiled manchild.

StripySocksAndDocs · 10/08/2018 20:25

😂
Brilliant!!! That made me laugh, thanks

popocatepetals · 10/08/2018 20:26

DH has never criticised my cooking - ever.

Either A - he knows which side his bread is buttered, or B - he has no taste buds.

Rottweilers1 · 10/08/2018 20:40

Don’t worry, we’re not dying of protein deficiency Smile thanks for the concern though!

Bistro vegetable gravy, shoot me.

He does do one full house clean a week, cooks like I say twice a month if that... Can’t shake that pretentious cock attitude at times.

Times like tonight, really pissed me off.

Well unless it is a vegan crispbake - many varieties contain cheese or egg

Needsmorebeans · 10/08/2018 20:46

I do nearly all the cooking but I like cooking. DH does loads of housework so it's very fair imo. I do insist on suggestions for meals. If he cba even saying what he would like, he should stop moaning.

LoopyLou1981 · 10/08/2018 21:11

Stop doing his meals. I give it a week before he realises ‘cooking for one’ is a pain in the arse.
DH once complained that the creases on his shirt sleeves weren’t ironed in the correct way...it took a week for him to realise it’s not as easy as it looks and a month to realise that something more than ‘I’m sorry’ was required. I got quite a nice evening out before normal service was resumed!

PerverseConverse · 10/08/2018 21:55

I'd be pissed off you'd put gravy on it but that sounds lush. Please can I come for dinner? Just no gravy please as makes me heave.

On a serious note (although I would love to come to dinner) tell him to get fucked and make his own dinner from now on. You made him a perfectly good meal and he acted like a petulant 5 year old.

Is he one of those idiot men who think it's not a proper meal unless it contains meat or fish?

Pp Is right about how unattractive whiners are. My ex whined. Worse than my then 2 year old. Put me right off sex with him.

You stick to your guns OP! (Am seriously craving veggie crispbakes now. Are they the M&S ones?)

BrutusMcDogface · 10/08/2018 22:02

Well, it sounds like the meal lacks protein. So that is a bit unreasonable -- a plate of just veg in various forms is not a meal.

😂

Lol. Are you the op's ungrateful manchild husband, Medea?
