To be scared to have my implant out today

Governoress86 · 08/08/2018 08:28

I am due to have my implant outing just over an hour.

I have read horror stories of the trouble of having it out and the side effects after and now I'm petrified.

I'm a very anxious person in general and having the implant in has has not helped on that front as it has made me worse.

I suppose I just need someone to say it will be fine lol

It will be fine!! They will give you an injection to numb the area so it won’t feel painful at all, you just might feel them moving around to get it out!

ShowerGel9 · 08/08/2018 08:31

Will be fine. Mine was out with no problems and I went back out and enjoyed a small treat of a costa for my troubles :)

Governoress86 · 08/08/2018 08:33

Thank you Smile

I am going shopping with my daughter and partner after so may treat myself to something nice.

I'm such a big wuss!!

You will always hear of all kinds of problems with thints going wrong. From a set of acrylics ending in disaster to a ear pierced going badly to a heart transplant going wrong. Doesn't mean it happens often CakeBrew

3boysandabump · 08/08/2018 08:37

I found getting it out a lot easier than getting it in so imo you've already done the hard bit.
Also I think a lot of the people who've had trouble have left them in for a lot longer than the 3 years.

Governoress86 · 08/08/2018 08:37

I shouldn't read horror stories but I can't help it.

I have been looking forward to getting the implant out for ages as it has been as nightmare to have. Just scared of the pricedure.

I know I will be fine

There is always someone, somewhere going through something much worse then you arever and would probably LOVE to swap shoes with you and have an implant removed in that moment Smile

Governoress86 · 08/08/2018 08:39

I was asleep when I had it in so I don't know what that felt like.

Mine ran out at the beginning of July this year but could only get an appt to have it out today

Getting it out was a lot easier than getting it in. It will be fine it just sound scary

Outbackshack · 08/08/2018 08:43

Didn't hurt at all. I even had "ooh yours is in deep" from the doctor which was lovely! It is all numbed so you can't feel the pain but can vaguely feel the sensation if that makes sense. I had to go to a sexual health clinic to get it removed and the delightful posters kept me nicely distracted

Bubblysqueak · 08/08/2018 08:44

It will be fine.
Mine was difficult to get out. The doctor just couldn't grasp it and it took ages but I could not feel a thing. The doctor got very embarrassed and I ended up in a giggling fit (that really didn't help)
Please don't worry it will not hurt.

keepingbees · 08/08/2018 08:44

I have anxiety - having the implant out helped!

It's honestly fine being removed. Just the local anaesthetic and a bit of prodding, then they just bandage it up. It doesn't hurt I promise Smile

I started to feel better within hours of it being out.

Stephisaur · 08/08/2018 08:45

It felt a bit weird when I had mine out, because the area was numb but I could still sense it coming out if you know what I mean?

Didn't hurt though, just made my arm a bit sore for a few days (not helped by DH constantly knocking it!) X

Governoress86 · 08/08/2018 08:49

Thank you for you all your replies. I feel a bit better.

I have to go to the sexual health clinic to as my drs are not trained to take it out.

What was everyones period like after having it out?

Whilst I have been on it I have constantly bled.

Imsorrylhaventaclue · 08/08/2018 08:49

Relax OP it’s a complete non-event. It came out in less than 30 seconds, they go a bit OTT with the bandaging and advice IME because it’s only a tiny cut. I went back to normal cycles pretty much immediately.

The weirdest thing was the dent it left in my arm because I’d had them back to back for 7 years, but even that’s gone back to normal after a few months.

killemwithkindness · 08/08/2018 08:55

I'm sure you will be fine OP, like PPs have said it's not so bad. Mine was removed easily with only a small scar where it was, my periods returned to normal straight off, but I didn't bleed at all while on the implant

chicken75 · 08/08/2018 08:56

Had mine out yesterday. Was a year overdue but no problems getting it out. It's a little sore today but no big deal. Hope you are ok Ok.

chicken75 · 08/08/2018 08:57

*Op

LoveInTokyo · 08/08/2018 08:59

You will be fine. They’ll give you a local anaesthetic so you can’t feel any pain. You’ll probably feel some pressure and the nurse fiddling about a bit to get it out. Afterwards you’ll have a bandage and be a bit bruised and sore, so treat yourself to a nice coffee and cake like a pp suggested.

eeanne · 08/08/2018 09:01

It’s much easier than the insertion. Don’t stress!

Governoress86 · 08/08/2018 09:09

Thank you all. I'm just on my way to get it out. My partner is laughing at me calling me a drama queen lol

I know I'm being over dramatic, be glad when its over and done with Smile

I've just read this thread thinking you were having a breast implant removed and thinking omg they only give you a local to take it out!!! Just realised my mistake!! 🤣🤣🤣 Hope you are ok.

jilldoyoulikeowls · 08/08/2018 09:20

OP I had awful experience with mine so had to have it out, the actual removal was totally fine. A definite "oh you've done it already?!"

You'll be fine! Absolutely worth a treat though!

Lenny1987 · 08/08/2018 09:21

I have had 3 in and out and no problem with any so far, and I am a complete baby when it comes to things like that! You will be fine

KinkyAfro · 08/08/2018 09:30

Mine hurt, it wasn't numbed and it just stuck...was ok in the end
