Watching a Christmas themed movie and it's got me ridiculously in the mood for Christmas already. 🙄

Any other Christmas lovers out there!?

We have already booked an Xmas meal in our local pub for mid December

I am a Halloween person. I can’t wait for this miserable heat to dissipate. I want to long cold nights, soft blankets, and the smell of burning leaves.

OnNaturesCourse · 07/08/2018 09:17

I am glad it's not just me 😂

I have moved myself to the Christmas tab in mumsnet though so as not to upset the heatwave lovers and scrooges 😂 (joking)

wtf ??? it's 26 degrees here already and sweat is running down my back, make up ? that melted about an hour ago and i want to dive ito a tub of 'kellys' cornish ice cream ! and YOU are talking about christmas ??
having said that... it's funny in the respect that yesrerday i was in the kitchen and looking out of the window whilst washing up, one of our neighbours walked past with a folded christmas tree under her arm !
i thought the heat was doing a number on my eyes but ds saw it too !

@BalloonSlayer what are your special Christmas novels?

Well I am not taking about anything super-literary here, don't expect anything by Dickens! I am rather fond of the books by Trisha Ashley and she has done several Christmas-themed ones (which include recipes). I think my favourite of hers is "Twelve Days of Christmas". I try to hold off until late November at least but then I can't resist getting it out again.

OnNaturesCourse · 07/08/2018 16:52

Maybe it's because it's cooled down where I live. Heatwave is over here.

Yup! I work for a well known brand so in Jan we look at what products we have launching that will be used for Christmas campaigns.
We then spend about 4 months getting everything ready (photography, press releases, sales packs, pricing, retailer info etc) so that come July we are ready for 'christmas in july' - this is when products need to be pitched in to glossy magazines which have a 5-6 month lead time from initial research to printing to on shelves. This is also the time that people start complaining about seeing Christmas stuff too early, it's all dictated by this schedule!
August - september we nail down the creative such as adverts, posters, in store materials etc ready for it all to roll out at the start of November, as this is when shoppers really start actively buying presents en masse.
December I get a break from it at work, but love living it with my family.
January it all starts again.

So basically I am feeling festive all year round!

mineisarossini · 07/08/2018 19:13

I love Christmas but NOT in the middle of the summer when it is 32c and I am sweating cooking supper every night. My dc are desperate for some cooler weather so we can sit and enjoy a film without feeling guilty ‘because the weather is so nice’
I am knackered making the most of the summer. Truly on my knees. So yes to autumn and winter, not sure about Christmas 🎄

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 07/08/2018 19:15

Oooh yes me OP! I've got a bay window and a Victorian fireplace for the first time ever and I cannot WAIT to 'dress' them for Christmas! Grin
