Just wanting insight on a situation with one of my close friends.

She is getting married early next year to her partner of 3 months (short I know), they are very happy and in love, so I’m very happy for her. However, she has told her fiancé that she wants her 16 year old brother to be his best man. IMO I think this is unreasonable as her 24 year old fiancé has his own best/close friends that would be much more suitable e.g. arranging stag do’s and for the best man’s speech, whereas her brother can only share stories of her.
I’m just wanting other peoples opinion of this so I can (hopefully) tell her I’m not the only one that thinks this is unreasonable.

It’s nuts. I’d be astounded if he could come up with an even half-decent speech at sixteen, not to mention all the other things. He doesn’t know the bloke from Adam! He can be her Chief Bridesman or Man of Honour, if she’s that fussed.

She is being unreasonable. It’s the one part of a wedding where the groom has a say.... the best man is an important role and it’s his choice not hers. I am sure she would be thrilled if he gave her the list of bridesmaids he had chosen . Is she turning into bridezilla....

He should be an usher but obviously not best man unless he happens to be the groom's closest friend. If I'd had a big wedding I'd have asked SiL to be bridesmaid but not maid of honour.

Since when should the man not have a say in his wedding? Last time I checked, a woman can't marry herself. It's not just about the bride, its about the bride and groom.
