To just want a pair of fucking jeans

That
•Don't have gigantic holes in
•End at a decent place around the ankle- if I want 3/4 length ones I'd buy them
•Are wide enough at the bottoms that I can actually get my feet through (I'm a size 5 so not particularly big)
•If possible, have pockets! What really gets my goat is when they have fake pockets. I couldn't give a crap if it LOOKS like I have pockets, I want somewhere to put my phone.

I've just got back from a morning of trapising around the shops looking for a pair of jeans. I didn't find a SINGLE PAIR that met the criteria. I try to buy online these days, but 9 out of ten times they don't fit and I have to send them back so I prefer to try them on first.

Next jeggings are my go to. Actual denim, fit properly, have proper pockets, not too short or tight at the bottom and a range of colours. Comfy too!

Stoveding · 02/08/2018 15:49

You want real denim and not ‘fashion’ jeans.

I like Lee and True Religion

Keeptrudging · 02/08/2018 15:49

Next enhancer jeans are good - pockets, higher waist, nice stretch but not ultra-skinny. No holes or fancy bits. Come in different colours of denim and black. I don't generally like Next clothes, but these are good.

Stoveding · 02/08/2018 15:50

Was going to say I normally root mine out on tk maxx

This. I love my Levis!

exexpat · 02/08/2018 15:54

Have you tried Uniqlo?

INeedNewShoes · 02/08/2018 15:55

Levis have gone all cheap. I was horrified to find their 501s now have synthetic fibres in place of proper cotton denim.

kaytee87 · 02/08/2018 15:56

Gap?

MrSpock · 02/08/2018 15:57

Mens jeans?

I steal my partner’s jeans if I just need to go to the shop (I don’t own any) and they’re surprisingly comfy and practical. And have pockets.

BiddyPop · 02/08/2018 15:58

I have Gap jeans that I dread the day they discontinue the standard pattern I buy. It's getting harder to find them too!

NewYearNewMe18 · 02/08/2018 15:58

Not an MN favourite but you cant beat M&S jeans or Primark

Haberpop · 02/08/2018 16:00

Gap for me too.

UpstartCrow · 02/08/2018 16:01

My people! I want straight leg jeans. Not drainpipes, jeggings or boot cut.

Troels · 02/08/2018 16:01

As I get older I find that my bum and hips fit better in the M&S ones and Lands End ones. M&S are a lot cheaper so I buy them usually, and hunt the clearnace at LandsEnd.co.uk and buy when I can.

jaffacakeany1 · 02/08/2018 16:01

I love Wallis jeans, so comfy, just bought my second pair in the sale! 😁

minipie · 02/08/2018 16:03

Second the Tk maxx suggestion. It's a good place to try on lots of different brands (as well as finding ££ jeans for less)

Member · 02/08/2018 16:04

And even if you accept that the majority will add elastane even though you don’t particularly want a stretchy look, you’ve now also got to contend with jeans that have polyester added. Denim should be at least 98% cotton imo.

Add to that the complication of plus size and finding a pair that aren’t second skin or boot cut but just straight/gently tapered that aren’t upwards of £70

Areyoufree · 02/08/2018 16:04

And that are designed for people with normal sized calves! I try on so many pairs of jeans that fit my bum and waist, but not my calves. How does that work?

MuddlingMackem · 02/08/2018 16:04

I like straight leg and on the waist jeans and they're often hard to find. The last two places I've managed to get them from have been Matalan and M&S.

MissConductUS · 02/08/2018 16:05

I love my Lands End jeans. 5 pockets too.

MikeUniformMike · 02/08/2018 16:05

Gap or M&S.
Be prepared to try different sizes.

rosablue · 02/08/2018 16:13

Sainsburys jeans are fantastic. Have had far more compliments wearing them than any other brand - and they have a choice of different cuts (straight, skinny, bootcut, etc) plus theres a more expensive one usually plus jeggings. And they're cheap, have stretch in, wear well and are comfortable.

MissusGeneHunt · 02/08/2018 16:19

Don't get me fecking started on 'fashion' jeans...!!
M&S never fail, and some at sainsburys are not too bad at all.
If I had the money I'd be seeking out some good old fashioned Levi 501s... But then I just remembered I'm not 24 anymore with svelte legs and arseage!!! Hey-ho, who cares...

kaytee87 · 02/08/2018 16:19

@BiddyPop when i found a pair I loved from gap I must admit I bought them in 3 different shades 🙈

Potplant2 · 02/08/2018 16:26

My current favourites are the Mango Theresa jeans. Pockets, slim but straight fitting (I think they do a similar skinny fit too), comfy. I turn them up but I’m quite a short arse.
