to be in tears over a bloody ASOS order?

Bought a beautiful dress from ASOS, but when it arrived it didn't fit. It's a maternity dress and the only one I have spent a decent amount of money on (£55). Everything else is cheap sale stuff. I sent it back, but went to my local post office which is a depo. They don't do tracked delivery and told me this but I chose to send it anyway as I have never had a problem with anything getting to ASOS (yes I know, stupid me). Turns out this one time it actually hasn't turned up at ASOS, but because the delivery wasn't tracked, I was given no receipt, nothing by the post office, so I can't give ASOS proof of me sending it.

I know this is my own stupid fault. Can anyone think of anything I can do to solve this? Or am I doomed to lose my £55 forever? It seems like a lot of money with a baby on the way... ugh, how stupid of me!

Why didn't you ask for proof of postage?

Frogscotch7 · 02/08/2018 08:41

Don’t lose sleep over it. I’d say the money has gone. It is sickening to lose needed money but if it is not coming back you count it as an expensive lesson (next time register the parcel) and move on.

TinDogTavern · 02/08/2018 08:43

Oh that’s really bad luck! How annoying. And £55 is a lot to lose, no wonder you’re upset. Do you have a customer history with ASOS? If you have a credible record with them they might be understanding otherwise I’m not sure I’d be very optimistic, sorry! Flowers

MissMoons · 02/08/2018 08:43

@peachypetite because I'm very, very stupid!

@Frogscotch7 thanks. Much needed honesty! I could kick myself.

@TinDogTavern I'm such a muppet. I'm usually really sensible about things like this but I thought with a sticker and in an asos bag it would make it okay! How wrong I was... never mind...

Don't beat yourself up!

Mentally discard the dress and the £55, they're most likely gone. Check out the TK Maxx website, they had some nice maternity dresses and are often quite reasonable.

MissMoons · 02/08/2018 08:48

Thanks @MrsBobDylan ! I didn't even know they had stuff online so I'll definitely check them out Smile

Do you know what time you sent it at the post office? Would they be able to give you a duplicate receipt?

barleyfive · 02/08/2018 08:52

How long ago did you send it? Sometimes it takes ASOS a while to acknowledge returns.

SilverGiraffe7 · 02/08/2018 08:54

I'm assuming as it was a maternity dress that you're pregnant - in which case crying over it is utterly understandable! Speaking as someone who, when pregnant, sobbed because I'd over-microwaved a chocolate pudding... hormones are a bitch.
It'll feel like a lot to loose, but, as my mother would say, what's done is done. Try to put it aside and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

Sleepyandtired21 · 02/08/2018 08:55

Has it been longer than 2 weeks? I’ve had delays in returns being accepted but they’ve turned up in the end. Sorry this happened, it’s rubbish. If you think this might be the post office nicking stuff, report it to the Royal Mail because this has happened to me before and it turned out it was happening a lot from that particular post office

Mum2OneTeen · 02/08/2018 08:55

God, I've just spent all afternoon trying to do an order from Asos. I've been stomping around the house & swearing a lot, hopefully it will be resolved now.

Have ordered $800+ worth of dresses for DD to try on for her school leaving formal (we live in rural Australia, so no local shops). All but one dress will be going back so I will definitely be registering/ tracking the return shipping after reading your post.

Ended up having order twice due to mysterious payment hassles (but only pay once I hope). All too complicated to detail here, but I sympathise with anyone having online shopping hassles.

Hope your parcel eventually turns up at Asos, not much mail disappears really, usually things are just held up but arrive eventually.

TakeOffYourJudgyPants · 02/08/2018 08:55

It took over 2 weeks for ASOS to acknowledge my return a few weeks over. How long since you sent it? There could be hope yet.

MissMoons · 02/08/2018 08:58

Thanks everyone, it was about two weeks ago. Maybe it's just taking a bit longer. I did send it from a very busy depo in the midlands!

I am 27 weeks pregnant so many things make me cry (usually happy things). Argh, £55 though 😩 I think I need to let this one go and make up for the £55 elsewhere!

EeebyMum · 02/08/2018 08:58

ASOS can take an age to process returns, the last return I sent took 3 weeks

Slipp3rs · 02/08/2018 08:58

I’ve never asked for proof of postage when I’ve returned asos stuff and it always get there.

Why should you need proof? You’ve paid postage. Should be enough proof.

Asos returns do take a while so maybe it’s just been delayed in sorting their end.

EeebyMum · 02/08/2018 08:59

Also, I’d cry about £55, pregnant or not.

MissMoons · 02/08/2018 08:59

@Slipp3rs ASOS postage is free and tracked? So I haven't paid anything at all to send it. At a regular post office they will give you the receipt with the tracking number on it and this is your proof of postage.

OP posts:
ZeroHoursZeroPay · 02/08/2018 09:00

How long ago did you send it back? I've been in your position before, where I had thought something was lost in the post only for a couple of weeks later to receive an email from the company confirming the refund.

I hope your dress makes its way back to Asos eventually.

MissMoons · 02/08/2018 09:00

@EeebyMum glad I'm not the only one! Makes me feel slightly less pathetic...

OP posts:
tabulahrasa · 02/08/2018 09:06

I once cried, proper hysterical sobbing because I couldn’t find a tin of tomato soup in my kitchen cupboard while I was pregnant...so tears at potentially losing £55 seems fair enough to me...

WilburIsSomePig · 02/08/2018 09:10

Did you pay for it to be sent back?

AnotheBloodyChinHair · 02/08/2018 09:15

I think it just hasn't made its way to their returns depot yet

Sparklesocks · 02/08/2018 09:20

It’s ok to get upset, it’s very stressful and disappointing when these things happen!

I think you need to write off the money and chock it up to a pricey mistake. But also look after yourself today, do nice things for yourself Flowers

ladycarlotta · 02/08/2018 09:22

I returned a parcel at a depo recently and the guy wrote me out a little proof of postage receipt. I'm surprised the person at yours didn't offer!

I'd wait a bit longer, but it might just be this was an expensive oversight. I hope it does turn up though.
