To ask for a refund from Morrisons...

...because they've charged me for two extra carrier bags?

Yes I know I am but this kind of thing annoys me as if they overcharge by 10p every shop then it mounts up!

Doesn't help they were 45 minutes late bringing my shopping and I realised today that they don't price match substitutions. I also had loads that they couldn't deliver as they weren't in stock.

It's my first Morrisons delivery, doesn't make me want to use them again!

I just wouldn't use them again. I certainly wouldn't waste time complaining about 2 5p carrier bags.

MellyPapa · 01/08/2018 22:57

Did you ask for the bags or do they bag up your shopping and then charge you?! Surely they could just bring the shopping in those crates and then unpack it at your door (though I admit that sounds like a faff). Wonder if they could have some sort of rotating re-useable bag system...

IAmInsignificunt · 01/08/2018 22:57

If you complain on the app they are very quick at dealing with it.
Alternatively give them the bags back next time and they discount 5p per bag.

Runningupamountain · 01/08/2018 22:59

Oh do they do that with the bags? I couldn't see an option for no bags and it seemed weird as I had 6 bags with stuff in and the rest just in crates!!!
Would feel better if you could return as I hate using carrier bags now

I haven’t used Morrison’s but for Asda and Tesco you pay 40p no matter how many bags you use. If you hand them back then you get the 40p back.

Might want to check what their bag policy is?

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/08/2018 23:01

Just hand them back next time you get the money back off the shopping

Jozxyqk · 01/08/2018 23:05

Keep the receipt, next time just point to where it says 8 bags as you hand them over. I use Morrisons & never had an issue. Although they usually price match substitutions, maybe they've changed recently... annoying.

Runningupamountain · 01/08/2018 23:07

That's interesting about 40p standard charge. I'll look at their bag policy.

Ocado have an option to reclaim the cash back if you've been charged incorrectly for your carrier bags. They also give you a bit more cash (usually a whole 10p) for the carrier bags you actually return

SirGawain · 01/08/2018 23:36

Get a life! You have too much time on your hands.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 01/08/2018 23:44

Keep the bags and hand them back with your next order, they'll give you 5p back per bag so you won't end up being overcharged.

IfYouDontImagineNothingHappens · 01/08/2018 23:50

Tesco you can tick no bags though and you get no charge

thirstyformore · 01/08/2018 23:53

Morrison’s have just stopped delivering to my area. No warning. Really pissed me off.

LouBlue1507 · 01/08/2018 23:54

Last time I ordered an Iceland shop they changed me 25p for 5 bags. After check out, I get a message saying my store is trying to stop the use of bags for delivery and shopping will be delivered unpacked in crates instead. I wasn't pleased Angry

SequinsOnEverything · 02/08/2018 00:08

As pps have said, if you return them next time you get the money back. They normally over estimate how many you give them in my experience so you'll probably end up better off.

They don't price match subs though, it's the one thing I really dislike about them

AfternoonTeaIsLovely · 02/08/2018 00:12

I've had shopping delivered without bags but it makes me feel under pressure to remove the items and dump them in my kitchen quickly! There's got to be a better way???

LockedOutOfMN · 02/08/2018 00:15

Yes, I would, OP.

ManyCrisps · 02/08/2018 00:36

On Ocado you can return any plastic bags you have to them even non Ocado ones and you get money off your next shop.

Babysharkstuckinmyhead · 02/08/2018 00:46

I get regular Asda deliveries and I’ve ticked the box for no bags. I still get them sometimes, but I’ve never been charged. I have my washing basket by the door when the delivery is due and all the smaller items go in it to be carried through to the kitchen. The bigger stuff goes on the floor. It’s quick and easy.

Caffeineaddict994 · 02/08/2018 00:50

I used Morrison every so often - I alternate between them and Iceland depending on what I need - they give you everything in carriers but on your next shop the driver will (usually) ask if you have any bags for returns and the amount will be refunded to you. I've been overcharged for bags by them before but just told the driver next time and they added it on (so say they charged me for 12 but only got 10, I give 10 back tell them the mistake and driver puts 12 bags on the refund) but I may have just been lucky to get decent drivers. Substitutes are a pain sometimes but they usually send an email/text the morning of delivery to let you know if there are any and what price (price in email, not text) so you know when they turn up if you want to reject/accept.
Iceland have a standing charge of I think 25p regardless of how many backs you get but they don't take returns (I use them as bin liners for the bathroom bin!) Everywhere is different though, Asda and tesco have the option to have bags or not

I would really struggle to give a shit about 10p

OraangeSoda · 02/08/2018 06:07

They charge 40p for carrier bags for everyone. Doesn’t matter how many have been used.

WindyWednesday · 02/08/2018 06:18

40p is a standard charge set by the government.

Her0utdoors · 02/08/2018 06:37

Give them back to the driver at your next delivery, tell them how many bags they have been given and they will refund you. Please don't give up on Morrisons delivery ( I have a soft spot for them, they bring food to my house, what's not to love?!). If you've ordered something and it tastes disgusting, leave a product review to that effect and they will refund you-all and ring to apologise. The only downside ( for me) is sometimes they include the odd bottle of beer as a free gift which I find ethically dubious.
