To ask for a refund from Morrisons...

Runningupamountain · 01/08/2018 22:55

...because they've charged me for two extra carrier bags?

Yes I know I am but this kind of thing annoys me as if they overcharge by 10p every shop then it mounts up!

Doesn't help they were 45 minutes late bringing my shopping and I realised today that they don't price match substitutions. I also had loads that they couldn't deliver as they weren't in stock.

It's my first Morrisons delivery, doesn't make me want to use them again!

Funny, I've just put in a refund on Ocado for 8 carrier bags short. I thought Morrisons used the same system as Ocado. I went to my order page, refund request is signposted, then your shopping list comes up, the carrier bag amount is listed, you just put in the amount shorted.

Like you said OP, it mounts up over time. I'm really pleased with Ocado, used them for years but it's a regular mess up with the carrier bag amount.

CeeCeeEnnEss · 02/08/2018 07:10

If you go on to the website or app you can report wrong number of bags and they’ll refund. Or, as PP said, hand them back next time and they’ll refund all of them anyway.

Stopyourhavering64 · 02/08/2018 07:10

There's far to much plastic in the world and you're complaining about 10p!

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 02/08/2018 07:16

Sainsburys does 40p too. I always tick no bags, the drivers let me keep the crates and they go in my garden shed till the next week.

LotsToThinkOf · 02/08/2018 07:22

I think if you're going to split hairs over 10p then you need to study the policies of the shops you're considering before you actually use them.

Not sure if it's policy or if it was just a seasonal thing but in Tesco at Christmas I was overcharged for an item and was told the policy was to refund the whole transaction. So my £75 trolley full was free!

candlefloozy · 02/08/2018 07:30

If there's a problem then complain straight away. They will rectify it. They always do for me. Also they are a bit free and easy with the bags but when I return them I always give a rough guess how many bags I'm
Returning and they always reimburse me more. You could have unpacked your shopping and then given them the bags back there and then? Then they knock if off your current bill.

thethoughtfox · 02/08/2018 07:39

It's a standard 40p for bag when you get a home delivery. They don't add up the amount of bags actually used.

WalkingInTheAir13 · 02/08/2018 07:44

Ocado are amazingly good and my experience is based over many years.

Delivery is always within the the one hour chosen slot
Food and products are of high quality.
Substitutions are extremely rare and when they do happen, are appropriate.
Drivers super-helpful and polite.
Price match with Tesco - refund given if product cheaper from Tesco.
Finally, carrier bags:
I always keep them in batch/es of ten* and hand them back to the next delivery driver —together with the numerous cardboard wine carriers—

*Refund is always accurate, 50p, £1, etc.

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/08/2018 07:47

I use Tesco no bag delivery option. The delivery guy puts the boxes on my counter top at my request and I unpack them quickly. No bag charge.

WalkingInTheAir13 · 02/08/2018 07:49

Wine Strikeout fail on the wine carriers! Wine

MissDollyMix · 02/08/2018 07:51

Last time I had an ASDA order I ticked ‘with bags’ and they turned up with the crates of groceries and then a handful of bags so I had to pack at my front door. Wtf ASDA? That was the last time I used them. I’ve tried all the online shops and the only one I can get along with is Ocado. I know they use Ocado systems but it sounds like shabby practices from Morrison’s. I wouldn’t use them again.

NorthernSpirit · 02/08/2018 08:09

God, get a grip. How much time are you going to waste getting a 10p refund? How much time have you spent counting up bags and going through your receipt already?

Next time don’t use bags on your online delivery. Complete waste of money and you don’t need bags when you have your shop ordered online.

Runningupamountain · 02/08/2018 09:21

My first biscuit, how exciting!!!!

Thankfully I can count 6 bags in a number of seconds so no time wasted. I already waste hours on mumsnet any way so no additional time spent here Smile

As I said in my OP I know IABU but it just annoys me as if they do this every time to everyone they are making loads.

There was no option for no bags and unlike Ocado there was no clear statement about returning bags as I would have done that. I only shop online occasionally and it is usually with Ocado who I agree are fab.

I need to contact Morrisons anyway as they've charged me an extra £4 on my credit card compared to the final receipt they emailed so as I'm phoning anyone I will mention the bags!!

Will stick to Ocado next time.

UPDATE
For those interested in Morrisons policy Wink

It's a 40p flat rate. You can give bags back to the driver but no refund. You cannot request a bagless shop so you get this weird thing of some food in bags and other in crates. Don't really get why they bother with bags at all!!

Money taken from account all sorted by a helpful man.

Interesting that must be new because we have always been refunded for each bag we hand back. I wonder if it is because we have a delivery pass.

glasserator · 03/08/2018 02:21

I can’t believe they don’t price match substitutions! That’s a bit naughty

WindyWednesday · 03/08/2018 16:18

I always used to sell them back my bags for 5p each. I hope ocado still do that. I save them up and sell them back and get £4.95 off my shop.

Sainsburys don’t price match either. I found out last week. They used to. But no longer.

MereDintofPandiculation · 03/08/2018 16:39

My experience with Morrisons is nothing like yours. I haven't had any substitutions - I'm always advised of out-of-stock items just before checkout, and can choose an alternative if I wish.

Carrier bags are refundable - just hand them to the delivery person, and next day an email will advise you that you have been refunded for the number you returned (or even a few more than you returned, depending on the driver).

I was once charged for extra bags, requesting a refund on line was quick and easy.

It may differ in different parts of the country, but one of the things I appreciate about Morrisons both on-line and in store is the quality of their customer services, and their readiness to correct mistakes.

That's interesting because that is totally different from Morrisons where I am (most recent order 2 days ago).

PookieNoodlin · 03/08/2018 16:46

That’s weird cos Morrison’s where I am charge per bag, and then when you give them back on your next shop they then take it off. Morrison’s use Ocado delivery drivers. DP used to work for them. Tip for anyone who shops with either - the driver is not allowed to count your returned carrier bags so if you tell them you are giving 50 bags back but are only giving 45, they have to put down you’ve given 50.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 03/08/2018 23:03

That's exactly what I found PookieNoodlin, our Morrisons driver just asks me how many and taps it in, never checks. I often guess because who remembers how many carrier bags you had last time you shopped. I use them so much it must even out.

Duskqueen · 03/08/2018 23:17

I wouldn't ask for a refund, but when ordering online I would go elsewhere. In my experience, Tesco is best for home delivery, Morrison's is best to go in and shop.
