I have had premium bonds since they first came out,i have never won a penny, surely in all this time i should have won at least once
Are the older ones still in the draw,?
I have always updated change of addresses etc
I would like to buy more, but this is putting me off

DS is ridiculously lucky, he started out with a couple of £25 bonds, won £25 on his first one after a month Grin
He's won a few times, and usually just reinvests and buys more. Thinks he's got a couple of hundred now.

Actually, thinking about it, it's been a wee while since he has had a win. Maybe I should suggest he checks online in case there's been a surprise win meantime Smile

tart - yes, we get more than £5/month in cashback, so £25 is more accurate.

huggy - yes, I could win, but as has been shown, the odds are tiny. Also the 1.4% "equivalent" rate is misleading, as most people will get nothing. I'd rather have my £300 year interest, which I put in peer-to-peer lending (not risk-free, I know!) and returns about 6%.

But I know some people like a 'flutter' Smile with a hope of a win.

I've had premium bonds before and my winnings worked out at

Waiting for the big one this Tuesday when the prizes are revealed.... Have got £10000 invested and this will be my first draw.

So fingers crossed that Ernie is good to me!!

ShirleyB50 · 03/09/2019 07:06

Results are in - won a big fat nothing. Roll on next month...

underneaththeash · 03/09/2019 07:40

I have the max amount too and get something most months. I get significantly more in prizes than I would in a saving account at the moment.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 03/09/2019 07:42

I have had 500 worth since I was a couple of years old (so 30 odd years) and have never won anything.

Shoxfordian · 03/09/2019 07:43

I have 20,000 and I won nothing
Rubbish

Pumpkinsalad · 03/09/2019 07:49

I've just started, I put 200 in. We've been getting very little in interest in our savings account but in scared to put 12k into bonds. I should bite the bullet and give it a go for a while at least

years ago (maybe 20?) when interest rates were low and my dad was looking to invest some money, but grumpy about banks and the low rate he read up on premium bonds and invested 20,000 pounds.
And then because he's like that, tracked the best investment the bank had recommended to him against the cheques he got from ERNIE.

And came out with his premium bonds slightly ahead. But I think that only works if you have maximum investment and interest rates are stupidly low.
