Neighbours overflowing bin - to complain?

FrauNeuer · 31/07/2018 09:46

Hi folks

Genuine question here.

Neighbours opposite have gone away on holiday and left their overflowing bin at the top of their driveway. There are no bags of rubbish on the street, but the bin lid is at a 45 degree angle because they have overfilled it.

Obviously I’m concerned about the potential for vermin, especially in this heatwave that we’re having. The bins are not due to be collected until Thursday.

Should I contact the Local Authority, or do you think they are unlikely to take any action?

I should also mention that I’ve reported these filthy people before for leaving bags of rubbish out. We frequently have to deal with debris blowing across from their side. If it was a one off, I’d be inclined to let it go, but I feel that they need a warning.

What would you do?

I have no idea what my neighbours put in their bins nor do I care. Is there something wrong with me?

If they are on holiday why don’t you just put it out for them to be emptied tomorrow ? Problem solved.

I don’t see the issue with them leaving old door soon and carpet in their garden for a few weeks while the year renovate their property. Perhaps they wanted to wait until everything was done before they went to the tip to save them doing it over multiple visits. Or they had to wait for an uplift due to it being December and things are closed for a few days.

YeTalkShiteHen · 01/08/2018 19:08

@longwayoff oh well I’m sure you’d get a free pass on not giving a shit about the neighbour’s rubbish bins then Grin

Please please tell me you’re married to a Richard???

longwayoff · 01/08/2018 19:46

Hi hen, more of a dick of course

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 02/08/2018 10:28

You sound like my neighbour who when confronted with a tied up Tesco bag I put in their bin on bin collection day because ours was completely full (family of five with one in nappies at the time - they were an elderly couple) decided to take out the tied bag and rip it open in the street. For the crime of sticking a bag in someone else’s bin about an hour before the bin men came.

Hope they enjoying the wrapped condoms and tampons as much as I did when I had to pick them up Angry.

Stop being so frigging precious - ask your partner to tamp down the bag if you can’t.

PS - you wouldn’t be living in a pigsty if you’d just done that in the first place rather than musing on here about contacting the council.

You clearly don't like them and it's your issue with constant digs towards them.

If it bothers you so much why don't you wheel the bin to the end of the drive so it gets collected.

Oh fucks sake OP wind your neck in, you’ve spoken to people repeatedly like shite, you won’t take any advice on how to sort it so the only conclusion that can reasonably be reached is that you’re one of those people who walks about with a cat’s bum face glaring disapprovingly at anyone who doesn’t meet your exacting standards.

May I suggest that you are wasting a hell of a lot of energy on being fucking nasty and to lighten up for your own sake otherwise life is going to be hard fucking work.

Scabetty · 02/08/2018 12:43

You sound like a spoiled brat who is used to stamping their feet and getting their own way. The solution to you imagined problem was to put on a rubber glove and remove neighbour’s waste to your bin. You are too important and pregnant to do this. Pregnant people can touch rubbish. I even wiped real shit off my toddler’s arse when pregnant!

donquixotedelamancha · 02/08/2018 12:45

@DianaPrincessOfThemyscira you sound like an asshole.
Go fuck yourself.

@FrauNeuer. I'm genuinely curious: Do you see no inconsistency between comments like this (and the many others) and your complaints that people are rude?

Erm Confused I’m commented days ago actually so this thread is on ‘threads I’m on’.

You didn’t mention rubbish blowing around the street at first which is why I commented again.

And btw you’ve done nothing to change my opinion so have a nice day winding yourself into a froth about something you could have resolved totally on your own.

Mousefunky · 02/08/2018 14:28

My DGM gets on at the council about her NDN’s who never wheel their bins out so she has been forced to but it’s heavy and she can’t keep doing it. She’s retired and has very little else in her life to excite her, is life similar for you? If not, kindly get a grip.

Our local council changed the rules a few months ago and now won’t take bins where the lid is even slightly ajar as well as changing collections to fortnightly. You can only apply for a large bin if more than eight people live in the property. Ridiculous and as a result, I see many bins left on bin day.

I have three DC and I do recycle everything but some weeks I have to either take bags of rubbish in the car to the tip or take it to my DM’s house and put it in her bin. No choice because they won’t take my bin otherwise. Ridiculous and no ones fault if it does cause vermin but the council.

SillyMoomin · 02/08/2018 14:37
  • but the big question is, did the bin men come????

Was it all a storm over nothing?

Btw, you do sound precious op

FrogsAreMean · 02/08/2018 14:59

Precious? She sounds like a fucking knobhead!
