Going to Bali next Easter...hoping for a mix of beach, nature, adventure! Suggestions please! We're not big on busy resorts, so more off-beat stuff would be great.

Thanks hive

We stayed in Sanur- quieter than Kuta or Seminyak but still not sleepy town type of quiet. Nusa Dua is quite nice in a clinical way; lots of shops. I liked Ubud and it sounds more like what you're looking for, so have a Google and see what you think of that :)

violetbunny · 31/07/2018 10:31

We just came back from Bali recently. We went to Seminyak, Ubud and West Bali National Park, so it was a good mix of culture, beach and wildlife.

The National Park was definitely a highlight - we stayed in a resort within the park itself and it was just amazing. There were monkeys, deer and other wildlife all around us, not to mention amazing snorkelling. We also saw the endemic and endangered Bali starling. If you're looking for something a bit different and away from the main hustle and bustle of the touristy areas this was really nice (we got a bit of a shock once we arrived in Seminyak and were back amongst the busy side of Bali). I really cannot praise the resort we stayed in any more, the service was absolutely top notch. They also will pick you up from anywhere on the island: www.themenjangan.com

I lived there for a year but a long time ago. Ubud is amazing as long it has not been spoilt. Kuta a mad house. I also used go to the North and stayed in cottages on the beach, PM if you want details.

whatwouldkeithRichardsdo2 · 31/07/2018 11:41

I lived there for a while too.

Seminyak is still nice. It's lively but has quieter parts. Kuta is not very nice.

Ubud is very relaxed. Well worth a visit.

TheGlitterFairy · 31/07/2018 11:44

We went to Ubud and Sanur - a week in each. Both fantastic for different reasons!! I’ve heard to avoid Kuta as it’s a bit like a Benidorm for Aussies - but I’ve not been there so....?!

Am sure you’ll have an amazing time!

HundredMilesAnHour · 31/07/2018 11:50

I was there a few weeks ago. This particular time I stayed in Seminyak and Nusa Dua, but on my previous visit I stayed in Legian. I much prefer Seminyak although I also like Ubud (which sounds more your style OP). Nusa Dua is all resorts and very sanitised (I was there for a wedding - not my usual choice!) and has very little of Bali about it.

Chesntoots · 31/07/2018 11:51

I went to Sanur last year. Some nice places to eat and busy but not too touristy.

imonaplane · 31/07/2018 11:52

I also stayed in Sanur. I would recommend it.

SuzanneVaguer · 31/07/2018 13:15

Kuta, Sanur, Ubud, Kintamani, Singaraja, Lovina - Ubud was best, and Sanur for diving.

Pushpins40 · 31/07/2018 13:42

Oh, thank you all so much. I'm excited! x

Did you all fly to Denpasar?

OP posts:
HereForTheLaughs · 31/07/2018 16:43

Fly into Denpasar, spend a couple of days in Ubud, a couple of days in Sanur, and a few days in Seminyak.

justtheonethen · 31/07/2018 16:49

We stayed in Jimbaran at the Gending Kedis, Nusa Lembongan at the Castaway and then in Ubud at the Mansion resort.

All fabulous!

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 31/07/2018 16:55

We've been 3 times and live Ubud. It is a lot busier than when we first went but last time we stayed on the outskirts where it was quieter. So much to do, gorgeous scenery and wonderful people. Sanur is nice for a beach break but love Ubud more.

Sciurus83 · 31/07/2018 17:57

Take a boat out to Nusa Lembongan really nice small island a lot more chilled than "mainland" Bali, only about an hour on the boat and good diving if that is your thing. Can hire motorbikes and go round the island and across a bridge to Nusa Penida where there's very little tourism and lots of seaweed farms and beautiful coastline. Enjoy! I love Bali

Peakypush · 31/07/2018 18:24

Ubud all the way! Been to Bali three times and started off in different places (all listed above) but was all pulled back to Ubud each time, ohhhhh OP why did you remind me of those days?! Stuck at home with two babies now and dreaming of my travelling days. Enjoy Smile

NewPapaGuinea · 31/07/2018 18:44

Go canyoning in Ubud for adventure. Best thing I’ve ever done. Avoid Nusa Dua if you don’t like resorts.

twiglet · 31/07/2018 18:48

We went to Ubud and also Tembok which is in the far north very very quiet but we loved it! Black sand beaches rather than white but its amazing

BridgeFarmKefir · 31/07/2018 19:02

Munduk is lovely for some peace and quiet. We stayed in a lovely family B&B, had wonderful views of the hills, great (simple) food and went hiking. Highly recommend it. Kuta is basically the Costa Del Sol on crack, but Ubud is brilliant, especially if you're into health and well-being (and extreme sports!) enjoy Smile

Pushpins40 · 31/07/2018 21:54

Is it pricey as holidays go? The flights aren't cheap but I'm hoping it's like other parts of Asia and reasonable...three of us

Oh it's amazing, we went on our honeymoon, I can't remember the names of things now as it was 8 years ago but definitely go to Gitgit waterfall and there's an incredible temple on a lake.

Not that expensive as far as I can remember. Have a fabulous time!

Guacamole2506 · 31/07/2018 22:00

Seminyak and the nusa lemonga island. We hired a car and went around Bali for the day. Saw the hanging gardens, went to Ubud and went to the top of the volcano for lunch. I only visited for 8 days whilst in over Australia visiting family but I’m planning on going back for two weeks in a few years. If you’re wanting to island hop the Gili islands also look amazing!

BridgeFarmKefir · 31/07/2018 23:03

Cost of living is pretty cheap. We hired a driver for a few days and it was very affordable - and we did pay and tip him well! I can't remember how much exactly, unfortunately. The B&B we stayed in was £15 a night in Munduk, though we chose to stay in pricier places in Ubud etc. So lovely!

RoseRuby26 · 31/07/2018 23:18

We loved Amed in the north. So cheap and amazing scuba diving. Also enjoyed Ubud and sanur. Ubud great spot for visiting other places on the island. Loved tirta ganga (water palace) and gitgit. Did a fab cooking course and bike tour from Ubud. Sanur very relaxed....great food.

Pushpins40 · 03/08/2018 06:56

Ok, my last question! sorry, all. How hot was it in April? Not unbearable?
