Quotation from Quintillian, I believe (unless someone was fibbing about that too).

Just watched the presser. I find them frustrating - it always seems to me that the US press isn't as good as ours (UK) at asking the right questions in the right way. She gets given wriggle room to side step the issues.

cozietoesie · 01/08/2018 19:31

They'd halt the pressers otherwise.

Roussette · 01/08/2018 19:32

As I read somewhere... no one comes out of a Presser now having learnt anything.

Fact that Sekulow has weighed in on this is telling:
Kyle Griffin
@kylegriffin1
Sarah Sanders just said that Trump's Mueller/Sessions tweet is "not an order. It's the president's opinion."
Last year, Sean Spicer said Trump's tweets were official statements.

@kylegriffin1
Ex-federal prosecutor Harry Litman responds to Sarah Sanders: "The basic argument is: Come on ... You just look at this statement in isolation. It reads, it quacks, it walks like a command. It's a command." @MSNBC
mobile.twitter.com/kylegriffin1/status/1024720325177733120
@kylegriffin1
Richard Blumenthal on Trump's tweets: "It seems even more vivid and serious evidence of criminal intent to obstruct justice — whether it is obstruction itself or not, it certainly indicated intent."

@kylegriffin1
Giuliani and Sekulow seem to be downplaying Trump's tweet, saying that Trump was not ordering Sessions to take specific action.
Sekulow: "The president has issued no order or direction..."
Giuliani: "...the president uses tweets to express his opinion."

'Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office wants to ask President Donald Trump about obstruction of justice, sources close to the White House tell ABC News. According to sources, the president learned within the last day that the special counsel will limit the scope of questioning and would like to ask questions both orally and written for the President to respond to.'

'Today our president called on his (recused) AG to shut down the investigation of his own campaign. As shocking as that is, what’s even more dangerous is that we’ve gotten used to it. The rule of law won’t evaporate overnight, but it can slip away—if we let it.'
