AIBU 'anyone for a cup of tea?'

Ok so after having people round for dinner I generally ask if anyone would like a cup of tea. This is often met with 'oh yes I'd love a coffee, thanks'. WHY!? I asked if you would like tea you CF. I am rubbish at making coffee, it is mysterious and scary to me.

Then roll in the demands of how they precisely want their coffee and none of that instant stuff will do.

AIBU!?

If they want a coffee, then get them to come and make it while you wash up/load dishwasher / tidy kitchen

In a dinner party type setting? Wouldn't that be a bit odd?

Coffee is what you have after a meal. Not tea! Tea goes along with a biscuit or cake in the afternoon. Or later in the evening with CHOCOLATE!

Well it has to be tea all the way here,,I used to drink coffee until about four years ago,,than suddenly stopped drinking it. so no coffee at all in my place.
But just been reading all the stuff on here tonight re brexit and shortages, well don't worry, just sit down, and have a nice, hot, sweet cup of tea, it solves all life's problems..

I always offer to make my own coffee, or for the coffee drinkers. The host often likes to hand it over whilst they’re doing other kitchen stuff .. it’s fun having someone else in the kitchen by then (if they’re not hiding COOK packaging or similar I suppose), and then I get to make it how I want it......

If you have a very big dinner party circuit, I’d invest in a cafetière on sale, buy a small pack of coffee, and let them crack on. Esp good for coffee wankers Grin

No I don't phrase it quite like that, it's only amongst family. With anyone else I would just politey decline.
