Hi all,

I am a newly qualified driver over the age of 25. I expected insurance to be expensive but I'm being quoted online between £818 (with a tracker box) to well over £1000! I would understand if I were 17-18 or even under 25, is this really normal? Should I phone some of these companies and try to haggle it down or is that not done?

Could you possibly have someone else
as the main driver of the car and you are
just on the insurance.

Terrible idea.

This is known as “fronting” and is illegal.
If you get caught then your insurance will be void. You could also be taken to court and struggle to get insured in the future.

That's really cheap for a first time driver (yabu).

Mine was more than double that. Also over 25.

Just noticed BackforGood i don't work in insurance, I work in finance and have friends in insurance, that was where my tip came from Smile

What @19lottie82 said. I work in insurance. Fronting is illegal and a great way to ensure other insurers won't touch you with a bargepole
