Replacing my 'normal bras' with bralettes and sports bras.

Raven88 · 25/07/2018 17:19

I ask because I don't want to embarrass my DH/family when I am out or get in trouble at work.

I am small chested 38b and normal bras never fit me right, I always get back fat or they don't fit right and they ride up. Today I bought some different types of sports/bralettes and they look so much better. Am I breaking a rule by wearing these all the time now. I'm 30 and a size 18 5ft 8 and hold most of my weight in my middle. My style is pretty relaxed and my work dress code is basically nothing revealing but we can wear what ever we want.

I've just done the same as Sammilouwho - I bought 8 of the £9.50 ones from M&S in the fuller cup option. They are amazing - pretty and comfy and supportive and I don't think I'm ever going to wear anything else.

theaveragewife · 25/07/2018 18:55

My favourite bralettes are £2 from primark

Deadheadstickeronacadillac · 25/07/2018 19:19

Rugby and peller are pricey but amazing...they can honestly size you without even measuring it is an incredible skill.
I am now a 38F and they have found me a strapless bra that fits, looks fab and doesn't ride up or slip down, helluva task at my cup size Blush
You may only need to invest in one or two but they will make you feel wonderful.

Fairylea · 25/07/2018 19:24

I hate bras. I’m a 30G and if I can help it I never wear one (eg when I’m at home). I’ve been measured and fitted properly (by bravissimo, and various online sites I’ve tried too) and I know I’m wearing the right size but I just hate them. So tight and uncomfortable. I take mine off as soon as I get in.

I do think there’s a move at the moment towards comfort which is great. In the 90s and 00s it was all about push up bras and wonderbras and now people seem to care less about cleavage and so on and just want comfort. Which is great!

PinkAvocado · 25/07/2018 19:26

Yep I too have given up on traditional bras and wear sports type crop top sort of things. So comfortable!

strawberrry · 25/07/2018 19:46

Size 16 with 36DD - currently pregnant so using that as an excuse along with the heat to ditch 'proper' bras and go for sports bras/bralettes, but thinking I might stick with them! So comfy.

madcatwoman197700 · 25/07/2018 19:47

Go for it! I have been wearing bralettes and sports bras and it's been life changing! I'm genuinely more happy and comfortable x

Sidneythecam · 25/07/2018 19:51

I'm a size 12 in clothes

I have to wear bralets because every bra gives me back fat

Been measured 3 fucking times at 38C

How is this?? 😭 My tits aren't exactly big..

Kenworthington · 25/07/2018 19:53

I’m a 36f and wear bralettes , or Shock nothing! I can’t bear the feel of ‘real bras’
No ones ever commented or burnt their retinas to my knowledge

ErrolTheDragon · 25/07/2018 19:53

The non-compression sports bras (not the high impact ones which squash you into submission) can be very comfortable, look fine under most clothes and great if you need to ever move faster than a walk.Grin

SimonBridges · 25/07/2018 19:54

Uniqlo bras are the answer. So comfortable.
I’m similar measurements to you op and love them.

ifherbumwereabungalow · 25/07/2018 19:57

I have massive boobs but have found that as long as I choose the largest size then the sports bra/gym top things from Primark are fantastic, really nice range of colours and pretty crossover straps and the like which I wear with pride rather than trying to keep the thick straps of an under wired bra hidden.

mehhh · 25/07/2018 20:04

Yanbu they are so much comfier, I wore them all through pregnancy and still wear them now dd is 1

hazeyjane · 25/07/2018 20:07

Some questions.....

What is a bralette?

I have big boobs, I hate bras, the catches irritate my back and drive me mad. Is there something out there that would hold my boobs sort of in place whilst not driving me to distraction?

Bombardier25966 · 25/07/2018 20:07

No reason why OP couldn’t be a 38 back, she’s a size 18. I’m a size 16-18 and wear a 38.

OP says the backs ride up. That's a sure sign the back is too big.

@Sidneythecam I have back fat too, guess it's just the way we're formed. Did have a lady in Bravissimo try to move it around and fit it in the cup. No love, it's not part of my boob, nowhere even close!

Missingthesea · 25/07/2018 20:07

I recently bought some M & S Flexifit bras which are very comfy. They are £20 though.

KatharinaRosalie · 25/07/2018 20:09

I'm a size 12 in clothes
Been measured 3 fucking times at 38C

measured by M&S? Most size 12 people are around size 32, not 38. Try Boob and BUst on Facebook.

recklessruby · 25/07/2018 20:12

I have worn bralettes or sports bras for ages now.
Don't have big boobs so they are great. Soft and comfortable.
12 years ago I had an op to fix a slipped disc and have a large scar where the bra line /clasp thing goes and normal bras are itchy and unbearable in summer heat.
Go for it. Ditch the wires hooks and eyes. You will love the comfort

SimonBridges · 25/07/2018 20:12

Here are the Uniqlo ones. No catches or seams.

anxiousannie111 · 25/07/2018 20:13

I wear these since having my baby it's comfier and sometimes I will admit I feel abit exposed but comfort is key

jemmstar1980 · 25/07/2018 20:15

Been wearing the Sainsbury’s non wired comfort £6 bra since my boob reduction!

They are so comfy!

AnguaResurgam · 25/07/2018 20:18

Pink/Victoria's Secret have a large range of bralets.

But if the band is riding up, it's too big, so try going down a size in the back (and up one in the cup so you have the same volume). Back fat is less when the band fits properly.

MsHopey · 25/07/2018 20:34

I'm a 38B.
Small boobs but chubby back (on me) and I've converted to sports bras for every day use. So comfy and so glad I chose to.
I do wear push up bras for fancy occasions though :)

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 25/07/2018 20:42

I second Rigby and Peller. They are truly amazing. They’re expensive, but it’s worth it when they fit so well. I’m still wearing one I bought about six years ago. It’s on it’s last legs now, but has been excellent p. I went in there wearing a 36C and came out wearing a 32E. I’d have half a dozen if I could afford them.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 25/07/2018 20:45

Live bralets and yog type sport bras, i.e. not level 5 impact Grin for everyday use/
