to tell them to wear pink dresses?

I'm having a small wedding (just family) but I believe a photographer is vital. I want nice pictures to remember.

I have three sisters, and naturally we will have photos with just us on the day. I want these pictures to look great, and I think the best way to do that would be if the colours compliement each other.

I want them all to wear light pink dresses. I think if they all wore different colours or patterns the pictures wouldn't look as good. AIBU to insist on this?

They will be the only 'young' women there, other than the two mums and a grandmother.

Forget all the ettiquette and who should pay stuff, we're missing the real issue here. What if the shades of pink clash?!?! Peach and hot pink and candy floss pink would look terrible together!!

If you aren't buying the dresses and they are objecting then you are being unreasonable.

If you are buying the dresses or they are all fine with supplying their own in your chosen colour then you are not being unreasonable.

You can only choose if you're paying, easiest way to do that is have them as bridesmaids

Also ‘light pink’ can still be very different shades. So they probably wont match.

Pink is a vile colour, insisting that anyone wear it is unreasonable in the first place. That's aside from the very controlling demand on your wedding guests. If you continue it'll always be a sour memory of your wedding day for them at least.

My bridesmaids all had different coloured dresses they looked fab.

They arent even bms no you camt dictate what they wear. They are not wallpaper/accessories in your special picture collection they are real people.

Photos could all be terrible! Enjoying the day with family is more important than pink dresses. i havent worn a pink dress since 1980
