The last time I left the UK was 20 years ago now. My passport has long expired and I've realised that I'll quite probably never renew it. Beautiful though so much of the world is, there are so many lovely places in this country to visit and go on holiday - more than I'll ever get chance to see. I also have certain health issues (which could make insurance prohibitively expensive and/or likely not to pay out should the worst happen). I've realised that I'll quite probably never fly or go abroad again in my life.

There are loads of other things that, for reasons of age, health and/or just being a boring old curmudgeon, I'll most probably never be in a position to do again - sit an exam, ride a bike, jump on a trampoline, handwrite a letter, go sledging in the snow, go strawberry-picking, climb a mountain (actually climb a craggy face rather than stroll up the gentle path!), walk barefoot outdoors etc. etc. Probably loads of other things, too.

What things have you realised that you will (probably) never do again in your life - hugely significant or relatively minor - and whether the thought of that makes you happy, sad or meh?

Have sex as I can't be bothered to date after my last relationship (it's been over 4 years now)

RunMummyRun68 · 24/07/2018 00:27

I won't run a full marathon ever againSad

Training is too time consuming. Got no time to dedicate to it anymore

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/07/2018 00:46

I find this a little depressing tbh. I’m sure there are loads of things that I’ll never do again but I’m also sure there are loads of things that I will, and things I’ve never done, some I will and some I won’t.
Life is an adventure from day 1.
Who knows when our time is over, don’t live with regrets

Stompythedinosaur · 24/07/2018 00:48

Have a night out taking ecstasy. I am sensible and grown up now, but I remember some really fun times in my youth.

rosetintedview · 24/07/2018 00:55

You know that bit in The Greatest Showman where Zendaya is on the trapeze and she swings up and in super-cheesy-ultra-slow-motion meets Zac Efron's eyes for the first time and they both just know and blahblahblah......that.

It makes me all teary and sad to think that I'll never feel that first connection with someone, that knot in the stomach of excitement at what might be. Which is crazy as I'm very happily married 😊 a yearning for lost youth perhaps?!

MattLeBlancVest · 24/07/2018 01:03

Give birth or breastfeed. Hurrah! But slightly sad at the same time.

AveAtqueVale · 24/07/2018 01:04

Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever have a period again. The last one I had was six months before I fell pregnant with DS1, and he’s four this week. Never had any between him and DS2, and none since DS2. I’ve always only had a couple a year but 5+ years is a bit of a dry spell even for me! I’m only 28 so feel a bit funny about it, even though it doesn’t seem to have affected my fertility. Makes me feel weirdly unwomanly Hmm.

LeftRightCentre · 24/07/2018 01:05

Give birth. Thank fuck.

FissionChips · 24/07/2018 01:08

Have another child, I’m not cut out to be a parent.

Notsurprisedatall · 24/07/2018 01:09

I probably won't holiday in the UK again, my standards are high I am always disappointed, and the weather... Priced up a week stay and it came to £2500. Booked to go to Orlando for 3 weeks and it is cheaper per week, standard is higher and weather should be amazing.

3 of us have health issues, insurance is £400. Not a lot in the grand scheme of it.

I won't go brunette again, I won't go for walks along the beach again (mobility scooter) and I wont ever watch another Tom Cruise movie... shudders

Notsurprisedatall · 24/07/2018 01:10

Or have another child, snip snip

Enidblyton1 · 24/07/2018 01:16

I will never go caving again. Worst experience ever - felt so claustrophobic.

seventhgonickname · 24/07/2018 01:20

I am 58 and have always looked to what I can do and never tried.
When I was younger I tried to visit countries that I may not be able to visit when older or in a relationship.
I'm glad it never sat down and listed stuff I can't do now, even if I live to 109 it will always be a bigger list.

Have a baby,I'm disabled now and Ill,I was sad about that for quite a while but I am very lucky that I already have DC.

I'll never be able to breastfeed again and although it was bloody hard work alot of the time, those midnight feed's with a tiny gorgeous new born baby are something I think I'll always miss.

Studying at College and then University,I'd left school at 15 but then went to College when I was 30 and I loved it but I had my 5th DC and the hospital messed up big time and our youngest DC DD10 and myself were left disabled. So very sad about that one.

Being able to do most of the housework and cooking,I know lots of people would think that was a mad thing to miss but I used to love cooking and I didn't mind housework and I hate that my DH has to do the lions share of everything. That's another thing that makes me very sad.

Dating,I'll never date again and that I am very happy about!

One night stands, another thing I'm very happy I'll never do again.

Buy bigger clothes,I'm doing slimming world now and loosing weight so I'm very happy I'll never have to go up a size (or 3) again.

Waste my time and energy on people that treated me badly,I cut them all off so I'm over the moon that i'll never have to do that again.

AcrossthePond55 · 24/07/2018 01:33

Ride a roller coaster, motion simulators, or 'spinny-type' ride. When I hit 55 I started to develop motion sickness and now it's to the point where I get too nauseous to even try. I've tried every sickness remedy there is, it doesn't help.

I love those rides and just hate that I can't ride them anymore.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 24/07/2018 01:36

Anal & rollercoasters

Maverick66 · 24/07/2018 01:38

Probably will never again be debt free.........recession wiped us out.

MrsFezziwig · 24/07/2018 01:47

MrsFoxPlus4

Never, or just not at the same time?

ALongHardWinter · 24/07/2018 01:59

Grin at MrsFezziwig

hattiebugatti · 24/07/2018 02:08

I will never ever ever have another period again. Last one was 15 months ago, and funnily enough I don't miss them. Fucking bastards they were! Hmm

Coincidentally I have not had a migraine since my last period either!

The doctors always told me that they weren't linked, but I am sure they were...

Anal and roller coasters...

Made me LOL that did @MrsFoxPlus4 Grin

notangelinajolie · 24/07/2018 02:09

Be someone's daughter. Will never ever get a birthday card from mum and dad. They have both gone Sad

Be pregnant ever again. Early menopause meant freedom from periods years ago. Yay!

Will never work again. Finally, after years of poor health/shit no life/no holidays/no car/money problems/obsessive penny pinching we have finally reached our goal. Both hit 55 and retired. Mega yay!

Fly. Medical reasons - not allowed. We can still go on grand land adventures though and about to start the next one on Saturday morning. More Yay!

Brexit. Yay!

It's all looking good.

BadLad · 24/07/2018 02:09

Go to a night club - no longer find them fun
Fly economy class - prefer paying more for the extra comfort and better food and drink
Watch a Premier League football match (at the stadium) - refuse to pay the ridiculous prices
Sit an exam - no need of any further qualifications

SeaToSki · 24/07/2018 03:54

My heart will never beat on its own again - I had a pacemaker last year

I will never set foot on a spin or swirl or up and down ‘fun’ ride again as I know that I will never enjoy it

I will never again drink Malibu. (Too much aged 17 ick)

Todamhottoday · 24/07/2018 04:05

Wear high heels
Visit certain countries, because I disliked them the first time
Eat another curry (well maybe)
Do aerobics
Hike, cannot do the heights
Buy any more crappy magazines, Hello OK etc

And BadLad, yes agree with you there if you can 'lifes to short to travel economy'!!

All quite superficial stuff really, but there is so much I am looking forward too doing that I have never done before in my life.

CardsforKittens · 24/07/2018 04:12

Smoke.
Probably just as well.
