The last time I left the UK was 20 years ago now. My passport has long expired and I've realised that I'll quite probably never renew it. Beautiful though so much of the world is, there are so many lovely places in this country to visit and go on holiday - more than I'll ever get chance to see. I also have certain health issues (which could make insurance prohibitively expensive and/or likely not to pay out should the worst happen). I've realised that I'll quite probably never fly or go abroad again in my life.

There are loads of other things that, for reasons of age, health and/or just being a boring old curmudgeon, I'll most probably never be in a position to do again - sit an exam, ride a bike, jump on a trampoline, handwrite a letter, go sledging in the snow, go strawberry-picking, climb a mountain (actually climb a craggy face rather than stroll up the gentle path!), walk barefoot outdoors etc. etc. Probably loads of other things, too.

What things have you realised that you will (probably) never do again in your life - hugely significant or relatively minor - and whether the thought of that makes you happy, sad or meh?

Hellywelly10 · 24/07/2018 04:30

Sleep with somewone to gain approval.

Notabee · 24/07/2018 04:37

I hate to say that i'd never do something, it just seems to final. I keep trying to convince myself things will improve.
That said, I'm definitely not giving birth to any more children.

strawberrisc · 24/07/2018 04:39

I agree with no more children and no more relationships!

Mum2OneTeen · 24/07/2018 04:58

Eat meat
Wear a bikini

ThePrioryGhost · 24/07/2018 05:04

Right now with young kids, it feels as if the main answers are: eat, sleep, and go to the toilet in peace!!!

  • be young and single and go out with all my young single mates every night
  • spend my money selfishly just on things for me
  • believe in Father Christmas
  • go on a trampoline or bouncy castle (damn you, pelvic floor)
  • wear a mini skirt so short that I don’t dare bend over or sit down
  • live in a house share

On the plus side

  • worry that i’ll never meet anyone or have kids
  • email or text a certain ex

I will never get married again!!! Because after two failed marriages I met the man of my dreams and after ten years together we got married. It is so different from either of my other marriages I know that this time it is the real thing. If I am wrong there will certainly be no point in doing it again.

ReevaDiva · 24/07/2018 22:33

Go to a festival or a gig. Can't be bothered standing for hours, waiting ages for a drink, being cold, wet, surrounded by drunk strangers. Nope!

DieAntword · 24/07/2018 22:34

Recreational drugs not prescribed to me by a doctor (as in if I’m 83 and the doctor offers me a nice morphine pump for my “dodgy hip” I’m not gonna turn him down even if his last name is Shipman).

MovingThisYearHopefully · 24/07/2018 22:35

Many things. Ill never see my mum again, never have another baby & im unlikely to ever speak to either of my sisters again or DH's sister or brother, but thats OK! Grin

Fishfingershamwich · 24/07/2018 22:42

Go to a nightclub (delighted about that!)

Eat meat (occasional regret but mostly happy!)

Snog someone for the first time (largely fine with this because I adore my DH, occasional pangs!)

LakieLady · 24/07/2018 22:43

Change a tampon - the menopause is fantastic.

Jump out of a plane - trashed my knee pretty badly and daren't risk it happening again.

Take acid, ecstasy or cocaine. Even if I wanted to, I'd have no idea where to get any!

Teaandbiscuits35 · 24/07/2018 22:50

Be a size 10 again with smooth, tight skin 😭 3 pregnancies and 2 c-sections have made my stomach a saggy mess and no matter what, size 12 is as good as it’s going to get. I’m not over the moon but I don’t loose any sleep over it 🤣

PenelopeChipShop · 24/07/2018 22:51

Have sex. And i’m only 37. ☹️
Ex DH has left me with huge trust issues and minimal childcare. Plus men on OLD sites appear to be worse than him. I think my love life is over.

Overthinker12345 · 24/07/2018 23:00

Lend anyone money

SaucyJack · 24/07/2018 23:09

I don't think I'll ever be able to feel truly relaxed and at peace again.

Maybe after the kids have all grown up and left home? But not for a long, long time. There's always somebody moaning or on a wind-up these days.

Skarossinkplungerridesagain · 24/07/2018 23:29

Unambitiousme · 24/07/2018 23:32

Have a threesome.

Bluelady · 24/07/2018 23:35

Have a conversation with my parents. I miss them.

Cheeseislife · 24/07/2018 23:40

Abseil and glad of it!

MrsFoxPlus4 · 25/07/2018 10:10

@hattiebugatti one makes me feel too relaxed and one makes me sick just being honest Blush
