AIBU to ask for urgent skincare help. Getting married this weekend

Posting here for traffic, sorry. I've spent the evening sobbing and I need some help.

I've had a really strong, bad reaction to a new moisturiser this past weekend. My entire forehead has erupted in lumpy, sore acne after using a different product.

I'm devastated and I look like shit. There is no sugar coating it, I look awful. To top it off we're going on holiday next week and I wanted to go makeup free - that's just not possible now.

I'm not taking a photo of my face at the moment. But it looks like the picture attached. I'm not exaggerating - mine has even bigger lumps at my temples. I'm 33 for fucks sake, I've got grey hair, I've not had a breakout this bad since I was a teenager.

AIBU to ask what I should be doing to get my forehead not lumpy? Off colour but flat I can cope with, but you can't conceal lumps. Please help me!

BadderWolf · 23/07/2018 23:32

Ok can see it now

Jamiefraserskilt · 23/07/2018 23:33

Toothpaste overnight for a few nights.
Tea tree oil
Lavender water
Witch stick

elephantoverthehill · 23/07/2018 23:33

Sudocreme is the stuff. It cures all ills.

BitchPeas · 23/07/2018 23:33

Some strong antibiotics from your GP? I had a patch like that on my chin/jaw bone and that’s the only thing that cleared it up.

Faceisamess · 23/07/2018 23:35

Am I squeezing or not squeezing. Can I get an emergency GP appointment for this kind of thing?

I'd be going for gentle options, OP, so you don't aggravate it further. Maybe take an antihistamine to see if it helps the swelling. Drink loads of water, wash with a very gentle cleanser like cetaphil. Lavender water as suggested by a pp is a great idea.

If you're into your natural remedies check our New Era or Schussler tissue salts from Holland & Barrett - get the ones for boils.

Twilight456 · 23/07/2018 23:36

Would an antihistamine help bring it down? Also perhaps GP could do something, I've heard of them injecting something into lumpy spots for a last minute attempt. Second lavender water its always been very good at ridding my skin of spots.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 23/07/2018 23:37

Bless you, that does seem like an allergic reaction, could be well worth seeing the GP, antibiotics or steroid cream might help. Don’t squeeze, it’ll make it worse.

Austenlove · 23/07/2018 23:37

Would you suit a fringe? Just in case it hasn't fully healed.

Hospitaldramafamily · 23/07/2018 23:37

Do not squeeze! Wrap some ice cubes in a clean towel and apply.

Ollivander84 · 23/07/2018 23:38

Acnecide works but it can leave your skin dry (moisturise after using) and I'm hesitant with it being a reaction to another product
I get hormonal acne and use it when it flares up
Don't pick or squeeze if you can help it as that will be harder to conceal, try not to touch your face as well and go v gentle with it

Faceisamess · 23/07/2018 23:38

It's definitely a reaction, my skins been fine for about 10 years.

Will an antihistamine help? I've never taken one before.

ThisIsHistory · 23/07/2018 23:38

Ice cube wrapped in plastic bag held over to reduce swelling. Good luck.

BitOfFun · 23/07/2018 23:38

Antihistamines?

stopgap · 23/07/2018 23:40

Cortisone injections at the dermatologist will take them right down, and Sudocrem is—as a previous poster pointed out—amazing for taking down inflammation and redness.

Also, a cup a day of red clover tea.

userofthiswebsite · 23/07/2018 23:40

Try getting some hydrocortisone cream prescribed by the GP.
A thick coverage foundation, such as EL DW or Marc Jacobs
Remarcable will be your friend.
Go back to your old moisturiser and keep the area hydrated otherwise it'll get peely and flaky as it heals which means makeup doesn't sit as well.
Acnecide a cream, availabile over the counter, is said to be very good. I sometimes get cysts under the skin and it doesn't seem to work on those but regular acne it's spoken highly off.
Also try ice to bring down the swelling.

Hospitaldramafamily · 23/07/2018 23:40

I'd definitely take an antihistamine

Hellywelly10 · 23/07/2018 23:40

So sorry op. Call the gp tomorrow they may take pity on you. Could sun exposure dry it up?

WereAllBladesArentWe · 23/07/2018 23:41

Anti histamine ASAP. I'd also recommend a browse through Caroline Hirons online guidance, super no nonsense and pragmatic in my opinion. Sending Flowers, that's shitty timing but def looks allergic to me so I'd be GPing v soon too. Keep us updated and enjoy your day!

macattack52 · 23/07/2018 23:41

Use tea tree and witch hazel. Search for full coverage foundation.

Calvinlookingforhobbs · 23/07/2018 23:43

I wouldn’t normally suggest this but try a sun bed. It will dry out and help clear the skin. I’d go to a GP first though

SelenaMeyer2016 · 23/07/2018 23:43

Have a look at either La Roche Posay it Avenue. Both do very gentle ranges.

Doctor and antihistamine also good suggestions.

:)
