To think that applying cream to intimate areas in a communal changing room is too much?

In hotel and there is a communal pool change room for each sex. In the women's one day when I was drying my hair I saw a woman stark naked with her leg up on the bench applying cream to her vulva/labia. I wasn't staring at her I just glanced up as I head the door from pool open and was checking if it was my friend.

There are private changing cubicles/many toilets/shower cubicles less than 5 foot away from her.

I'm not offended I'm just confused why you'd do it in full view of everyone. Am I being a prude? I don't often go to pools/gyms with communal changing. So maybe I am out of touch with the norm? My local one is mixed sex and all single cubicles.

I change in a pool communal area - cream on face and body cream on legs, arms, trunk etc fine because chlorine seems to dry the skin out but anything intimate could wait until a loo cubicle . Beyond comfortable in your own skin to exhibitionist or oblivious to acceptable behaviour.

It isn't a David Lloyd is it? I've found since joining that everyone is exceedingly extroverted about their body!

rainbowlou · 20/07/2018 22:19

I worked in a spa once, women thought nothing of applying creams, changing tampons and even trimming their pubes in the changing room and leaving the clippings on the bench 🤮

Emmageddon · 20/07/2018 22:27

Ew. Apart from the exhibitionism, what nasty infection was she treating? After sharing it with other swimmers in the pool...bleugh.

I'm all for people being comfortable in their own skin, but a bit of decorum at times doesn't go amiss.

Christ on a bike, when did I turn into my Gran?

MsChandlerBong · 20/07/2018 22:35

Not David lloyd no. It's the Village hotel in Bournemouth. Not sure what the gym/swim bit is called...maybe it's just called the Village?! It's on the ground floor of hotel and open to public too.

Envynot envy
Why would you put cream up your vulva anyway ???

madeyemoodysmum · 20/07/2018 22:39

Eweee

Bloodybridget · 20/07/2018 22:39

Because of vaginal dryness, would be one reason, nothing unusual about that. But applying cream in a public changing room is impolite.

hairyscarey · 20/07/2018 22:40

I too am aghast that anyone would want to put cream on their vulva. Why and what?

PickledOnionPants · 20/07/2018 22:41

Wouldn't bother me at all - I'm like other posters, I wouldn't do it, but i wouldn't be fussed if I saw it.

User183737 · 20/07/2018 22:45

It was either canesten for thrush or metronidazole for BV. Bet ya, all those fungal infections in the changing rooms.
Who the hell creams their vag in a public place?? (note: vulva police, I know it wasn't really her vag)

User183737 · 20/07/2018 22:46

I'd also be concerned if she touched anything before washing her hands. Even a tap to be honest. Bloody hell.

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/07/2018 22:47

No this is not OK. I am as open minded as they come. However, a woman in my gym used to do shit like this. She was older (60's), really looked after herself and was hugely attractive with a fabulous body but for some reason felt the need to "treat" the rest of us in the changing room to bending over in tiny thong scenes, applying body lotion with leg on the bench, vulva spread, tits out. It was mortifying. If she'd just got undressed, showered, put her body lotion on and got dressed, it would have been fine, but she didn't. Total exhibitionist. She was really lovely though! Just preferred her with her clothes on Smile

How do you know this? I use a sensitive moisturiser after I shower. I've got crazy dry skin all over and my labia minora have been known to flake if I don't. Nothing wrong with me, no infections. Just really dry skin all over my body.

9amTrain · 20/07/2018 22:48

Ugh yanbu

PortiaCastis · 20/07/2018 22:54

Yuk cream your fanny at home luvvie and stop being an exhibitionist

MsChandlerBong · 20/07/2018 22:55

I can't tell heat sort of cream it was as I removed my eyes v v quickly.

Wasn't planning on swimming tomo but maybe I should...or even just book in to swim.and go sit in the changing rooms to watch the show.

I've been looking on mn for the drying pubes thread. So many threads like this about gym behaviour.

You're not unreasonable. Things like that are generally done privately. Sounds gross!

Bunbunbunny · 20/07/2018 23:11

That is grim, I didn’t realise it was a thing to cream that area, I’d be worried about thrush

User183737 · 20/07/2018 23:13

Id go in her bag and replace it with deep heat discreetly. Then sit back and watch.....

dontgobaconmyheart · 20/07/2018 23:23

All the hypothesis about what cream it was or wasn't - it could be something innocuous , lots of women use prescribed oestrogen creams, lidocaine gels for vulval pain or prescribed vaginal moisturisers during menopause or for gyne issues in general it's not all thrush cream or a sign the poor woman has a raging STI. (Though I suppose it's possible)
With that in mind though I do think it's weird, I can't say it'd offend me or alter the course of my day but it does seem unnecessary to do in public rather than in a private cubicle. Definitely wouldn't go there personally but some folk are odd like that aren't they Confused

9amTrain · 20/07/2018 23:25

It was probably canesten.

Duo.

Vicky1990 · 20/07/2018 23:31

I hope she washed her hands before touching the door, locker, etc on her way out, uch.

JaneJeffer · 20/07/2018 23:38

Yuck. Communal changing rooms should be banned.
