AIBU to ask: are there many childless people on mumsnet

ConfusedWife1234 · 18/07/2018 19:16

I do have children but I often write about things not having to do with kids here and I have seen several people writing that they have no kids here. I just wonder how many people of mumsnet are kidsfree.

Childfree here but not through lack of trying! Struggling with PCOS atm. Partake in a lot of non-child threads though. Recently NCd but been here a coupla years

MaryShelley1818 · 18/07/2018 20:57

I was very happily childfree by choice when I joined MN and was initially lured by a link to AIBU on another forum, some of the comments were so ‘out there’ and utterly bizarre it kept me amused for a very long time.
I then had a mid life crisis, a divorce, new partner and my gorgeous baby DS and realised there’s actually a lot more to the site over the past year or so.

Tillytrotter123 · 18/07/2018 21:01

I was a member before I had my DD. Something led me to the Aibu page and I was also hooked!

Akire · 18/07/2018 21:06

Parenting stuff is only
About 10% it this site, there isn’t anywhere else you can chat, have a laugh, get advice about basic life stuff. Not having kids dosnt mean you don’t get lonely or want to talk to other adults it’s not preclude of just parents.

VickyEadie · 18/07/2018 21:16

Me, I'm childless.

tangledyarn · 18/07/2018 21:25

Childless and very sad about it but there's lots of other aspects to the site too.

Prole · 19/07/2018 17:08

Also childless but a big fan of AIBU. It's fascinating to see the spread of opinion and also some of the bizarre things people ask about (penis beaker for example).

I nosed into some other parts of MN but AIBU is where it's at for me.

Skarossinkplungerridesagain · 19/07/2018 17:11

Blissfully child free here!

FrowningFlamingo · 19/07/2018 17:16

I'm currently pregnant but joined long before. I think I was pulled over by seeing penis beaker in the media and then became addicted to AIBU.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 19/07/2018 17:17

I have 2 kids now but started my first account 9 years ago when I was 19. Didn’t have a kid til I was 25!

CrumbsInBed · 19/07/2018 17:57

Childfree here 🙂
I wanted a simple starter for Xmas Day, so I typed something into Google and Mnet popped up.
Had a look, and have been hooked ever since, AIBU being a firm favourite, along with chat, gardening and crafts.
That’s was about five years ago roughly.

Lottapianos · 19/07/2018 18:02

Childfree here. LONG journey, many years, lots of grieving, but feeling much more at peace with it all these days. I work with children so came on here to check out potty training advice or something, many years ago - stayed for the Feminism boards and for Style and Beauty!

Gah81 · 19/07/2018 18:04

Child free by choice here :)

SlothSlothSloth · 19/07/2018 18:08

I’m a stepmum, no DC of my own. I’m not sure I’ve ever posted about DSS and I’m not generally that interested in the parenting stuff on MN, especially as a lot of it is about babies and I have no experience of that. It’s mostly just the little insights into other women’s lives, whether they have children or not, that keep me reading!

adoggymama · 19/07/2018 18:09

I'm 19 and childless :)

Slowlygoingcrazy1 · 06/01/2020 18:50

Child free but desperately ttc.

EustaciaPieface · 06/01/2020 18:54

I’m child free too - I avoid any parenting threads but love everything else.

Beketaten · 06/01/2020 21:52

Very happily childfree. I don't read the parenting sections.

Winterwoollies · 06/01/2020 22:13

Was happily child-free, though I’m now accidentally expecting one.

soulasylum · 07/01/2020 06:38

No kids here OP

Handbag101 · 07/01/2020 07:08

Happily child free. Here for style and beauty and exercise chat......

SepiaTonedLove · 07/01/2020 07:19

AIBU is totally addictive. I read it every day and I've no kids. I'm fresh out of a long term relationship that included 5 years ttc so not feeling too hopeful in that regard to be honest

eaglejulesk · 07/01/2020 07:22

Child free by choice, I'm just here for the gazillions of funny and interesting threads that are not about being a parent.

BossAssBitch · 07/01/2020 07:29

Blissfully child free by choice.. I’m here for AIBU and Style and Beauty. I’ve been here for years and go through phases of loving and hating it, there are some v sensible, amusing posters but also some utter loons that I don’t want to be associated with Grin

I have read thousands upon thousands of threads on here, never anything parent related. I have two gorgeous doggos but rarely go on the Dog House, I find it an oddly hostile place! But yeah to sum up you don’t need to be interested in kids, or dogs, to find yourself losing hours of your life on MN.
