AIBU to ask: are there many childless people on mumsnet

I do have children but I often write about things not having to do with kids here and I have seen several people writing that they have no kids here. I just wonder how many people of mumsnet are kidsfree.

I'm childless. (I dislike the term 'child-free' because I like children and don't want to be 'free' of them, I just don't have any of my own yet.) I started posting in the Education sections of MN because I was working in a primary school at the time. Then I found AIBU and FWR and I'm still here many years and namechanges later.

TTC but no kids yet!

everygalaxy · 18/07/2018 20:00

Child free at the moment hopefully for not too much longer. Medical issues cropped up and delayed plans - there is a chance now it will be always like this but that’s ok too I think.
Came here through work and find it useful/supportive/entertaining. We are also playing an ad hoc care giving role for our hilarious & adorable nephew who has twigged on how much I adore him and has renamed our spare room his extra bedroom!

Happily childfree. When I hand over my Y2 class at 3.15 every afternoon, I give thenaks that I haven't got to start all over again when I get home.

cloudyweewee · 18/07/2018 20:00

thanks

Twuntsrule · 18/07/2018 20:01

Childfree by choice, but I came upon MN while looking for good/bad seleb stories and became hooked on AIBU! Tend to look at threads not concerning children unless the topic intrigues me.

ForalltheSaints · 18/07/2018 20:04

I have no children of my own.

ScreamingValenta · 18/07/2018 20:05

I'm child free by choice. No step children, nieces, nephews or friends with children that I've met, either. My interactions with children are limited to returning a smile in public places or talking about my dog in the park if they come over and ask to stroke him.

FurryDogMother · 18/07/2018 20:06

Very happily child free - am here for the interesting topics that have nothing to do with having children, but I've also gained a lot of insight into what life's like for those who do have kids, and like to think I'm more aware and understanding of their issues than I previously was.

BiteyShark · 18/07/2018 20:06

Happily child free but I do have a dog and spend most of my time on the doghouse threads.

Thelastredwinegum · 18/07/2018 20:06

Childfree - would like children at some point but not right now, although getting on a bit now so should probably make our minds up.

Usernamesareboring · 18/07/2018 20:08

Child free over here too - so few posts (on the boards I read anyway) are only relevant to parents that I don't see it as an issue. After all, us child free people have families, in laws, neighbours, pets, property and friends too!!

Happily child free here too

TroysMammy · 18/07/2018 20:13

Child free by choice and no chance of ever having any (age 50). I joined MN when my cat was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and when I googled it The Litter Tray popped up. Troy is no longer with me Sad.

Bunbunbunny · 18/07/2018 20:15

TTS & I love the chats on here

LanguidLobster · 18/07/2018 20:15

@TroysMammy sorry to hear that, it's so painful when they go

Mrsharrison · 18/07/2018 20:19

Childfree by choice, age 54. I came on here originally for something not child related and thought you all seemed a funny sensible bunch.

treeinthedistance · 18/07/2018 20:23

Child free here. I just like the atmosphere on the boards and the mix of topics that come up each day.

Wittow · 18/07/2018 20:29

they should have called it womenet or something, I think the forums are the best bit.

ScreamingValenta · 18/07/2018 20:33

Wittow Although, there are some great male regulars on here as well!

GameofPhones · 18/07/2018 20:37

No children (other than a dog) but here for the straight talking and the laughs.

LemonysSnicket · 18/07/2018 20:40

No kids here! No plans for 8 or so more years. Just here for the chat, perspective and jokes!

Noodles4Me · 18/07/2018 20:43

Childfree too. Not really my choice...more I cannot seem to stay in a relationship long enough to make it an option. And I cannot afford to do it alone. 36 now so highly unlikely. But have lots and lots of kids in my family so it's ok.

blackbirdbluebottle · 18/07/2018 20:47

#childfreeandlovingit! I personally don’t want kids but I love reading all the threads on here. Not all of them apply to parents (World Cup/Love island) so a lot of places for me to watch and comment!
