Just seen that there is going to be a ballot to apply for tickets to watch the wedding inside the Windsor Castle grounds like H & M did. But really who would want to go?

SandyFagina · 18/07/2018 18:46

The same sad fuckers who applied for tickets to Harry's I suppose.

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 18/07/2018 18:48

Mumsnetters who are successful should arrange a meet at the wedding.

You could all wear those baggy jumpsuits that are the new MN scarf.

SleepingStandingUp · 18/07/2018 18:52

Who'd willingly choose to get married in the same venue, with the same key personnel, with the same drive to church, etc, five months after a very close family relative had the biggest wedding of the decade

Surely the biggest wedding of the decade was Kate and Will in the big cathedral.

Why should she delay her wedding because her cousin got in before her? She's probably imagined getting married there most of her life, she didn't do that drive with Meghan so it's still new for her. She isn't going to be married by the same two people and if you live near family it's highly likely to get married in the same church by the same vicar.
I'm sure the colours and dress will be different, hopefully the page boy outfits will be different (I loved Pippa's pageboys), and it will be HER (their) day so it won't feel even vaguely like it did when she was last there

MmeGuillotine I'm very interested in your post! How far back does your interest go?

LanguidLobster · 18/07/2018 19:06

Who's Pudsey?

MelanieSmooter · 18/07/2018 19:57

We have. Any excuse to try and get the kids to see royals up close and sneak 5yo dd near George 😂

ShakingInTheHighCourt · 18/07/2018 20:03

I think Fergie has applied.

Silentnighttwo · 18/07/2018 20:12

I’ve just applied!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/07/2018 20:14

I think Fergie has applied

I'd love to know how some of them will behave towards Fergie on the day, though. They may have done a pretty good job of snubbing her since the divorce, but I can't imagine that will be easy when she's the mother of the bride

MistressOfTheGarter · 18/07/2018 21:30

I hope Fergie lives it up on the day, and in her role as mother of the bride, takes the opportunity to be totally, insuferably smug to the cold gits who have excluded her from so many occasions she could have enjoyed with her girls over the years. Charles I'm looking at you!!

JellyBears · 18/07/2018 21:38

I’d go sounds like a nice day out. Why be so scornful about a pretty young girl getting married.

Fruitforpud · 18/07/2018 22:24

Phillip bloody Schofield is bound to put in an appearance.

My professional interest goes as far back as the 15th century, with a particular emphasis on French history. I write a lot of articles for history magazines and am working my way through a book deal to write a series of biographies of royal women from history - the first two were about Marie de Guise (mother of Mary Queen of Scots) and Henrietta of England (sister of Charles II and sister in law of Louis XIV) and the next one, which is out in September, is about Henry VIII's sister Margaret Tudor.

As far as the modern lot go - I wrote quite a lot of a special edition 'bookazine' about William and Harry that is in the shops at the moment and a rather hideously saccharine foreword to a book about the royal wedding. I generally stick to historical royals though! :)

MistressOfTheGarter · 19/07/2018 13:08

Gosh. Sounds really cool Guillotine. Smile

MissLingoss · 19/07/2018 13:28

I think Fergie has applied.

Fergie was at Meghan and Harry's wedding, looking fab.

MmeGuillotine · 19/07/2018 14:20

MistressOfTheGarter Thanks! It's not the worst job in the world, I have to say! I get nice perks - tomorrow morning I'm off to the annual press event in the state apartments of Buckingham Palace where they let us take photos (usually absolutely forbidden) and then give us cake on the terrace and then in the evening I have a similar shindig at the Royal Academy. I'm very very lucky. :)

coolncalm · 19/07/2018 14:29

Why be so scornful about a pretty young girl getting married.

She's 28, not a young girl any more.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 19/07/2018 14:38

I resent going to the weddings of people I know and like - I'd have no desire to watch someone else get married. But I can imagine lots of royal-family fans would jump at the chance.

MistressOfTheGarter · 19/07/2018 17:14

*She's 28, not a young girl any more"

28 is still young these days surely? It seems like it was ages ago since I was that age. People tend to be settling down later in their lives and we're all living longer on average...

RoseWhiteTips · 19/07/2018 17:26

A pp said Eugenie is not very pretty. What utter rot. She is lovely.

AlmostAMinorRoyal · 19/07/2018 17:39

I've applied.

PugwallsSummer · 13/08/2018 10:38

Anyone received an invitation yet...?

Yoksha · 13/08/2018 10:54

I applied as soon as it was possible. I never expect to get anywhere. So it's not going to happen for me. Ah well. At least I tried.

I like Sarah Ferguson. I don't care what mockery comes my way. About 26yrs ago Fergie was visiting the NW hospital in my city. I was there with my 2 young Dd's. We'd been to see my friend's young daughter who died that night. My Dd's and I were inconsolable whilst leaving. Due to the sad situation I stumbled upon Fergie & her entourage. As they tried to shoo us away, she intervened, knelt right down to Dd's heights and comforted them. I was speechless. I've never told anyone before except Dh.

VanillaSugar · 13/08/2018 11:01

I think the announcement is 10 September so there's hope for you yet Grin
