Non alcoholic drinks that is of course. Only healthy choices or also lemonade?

RedDwarves I also live in Australia and it is indeed a thing here! Loads of people drink Bickfords...which is squash.

Ellendegeneres · 18/07/2018 10:47

Water or squash. My dc won’t drink squash but now more friends are over I buy it in so the others will have something they like

Fatted · 18/07/2018 10:50

We only really have milk and squash. My kids don't have fizzy stuff. If they're having milk I'll offer a bit of nesquick or crusha in it if we have that in.

Honflyr · 18/07/2018 10:55

Water or milk.

We sometimes have Coke but usually only family members' kids get that, as we know they are allowed it. I wasn't allowed it as a kid so probably wouldn't offer it to other kids.

CreakyAuldYin · 18/07/2018 10:58

We really only have milk, water and Apple/orange juice in. DH and I have cans of fizzy stuff occasionally.

I drink diluting juice (it's no squash up here) but the DC don't have it.

Honflyr · 18/07/2018 10:59

I was drinking proper tea in primary school, didn't seem to be a thing to offer that though

listsandbudgets · 18/07/2018 11:18

Depwnds how much I like their parents.

Usually milk water or squash though older ones tend to raid fridge for coke!! Sometimes lemonade if we have it.

Obviously if their parents are CF demanding free holiday child care I make sure to pour them a nice big glass of caffeine energy drink about 40 minutes before they go home Grin

LanceStatersGold · 18/07/2018 11:19

As everyone else really; water, milk, squash and fruit juice.

If it’s nephew (5yo) I’ll occasion make him and DD a hot chocolate.

Other nephew (18m) loves tea but I don’t like giving it to him but don’t stop DB or his partner if they choose to make him one. It’s very dilute but they put sugar in it.

TwoShades1 · 18/07/2018 11:20

We only offer water unless it’s a special occasion like a birthday and then we would offer soft drink too. Might offer milk at breakfast if they have slept over.

thethoughtfox · 18/07/2018 12:38

Water or fruit juice. I do have an old bottle of squash in the back of the cupboard for guests although my child isn't allowed it. We also offer sparkling water for mixing with fruit juice or squash for kids who are used to pop. Mine loves milk but most children wouldn't want a glass of milk in someone else's house so wouldn't offer it

Raven88 · 18/07/2018 12:41

Water, or we have Pepsi max. I used to have milk but I stopped drinking it so I have vegan milks. I don't have children in my house a lot.

RedSkyLastNight · 18/07/2018 12:44

Whatever we have in - so as a minimum water, squash, tea and coffee. If we had lemonade in, it would be offered
Most DC refuse to have drinks when they come round though, I don't think this is anything to do with our house, more not wanting to impose?

Saracen · 19/07/2018 00:06

I offer them whatever I have in the house, which varies. Sometimes only water. Often juice. Sometimes some fizzy drink or other. I don't bother to get anything special in. I imagine most people would drink water, and those who don't drink water probably carry a drink around with them in order to ensure they won't go thirsty.

I nearly always forget to offer milk, because nobody in my family ever has milk as a drink. If I remember, I offer tea or coffee to kids aged over 12 or so. (I would give it to younger kids if they asked, but I tend to assume young children aren't used to tea and coffee.)

gunnyBear · 19/07/2018 04:39

Milk or water. We rarely have squash in the house.

Grobagsforever · 19/07/2018 07:10

Only water. That's all we drink. Hate squash! Do ppl really keep and offer visitors fizzy stuff?

BoxsetsAndPopcorn · 19/07/2018 07:16

Grobag, yes. Not sure why you find that strange. I like flavoured water but couldn't drink just water all day every day.

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 19/07/2018 07:20

As my DDs friends are 5 then blackcurrant or orange squash or whatever.

When 13+ I'd offer lemonade/coke if we had it in.

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 19/07/2018 07:21

We sometimes have fizzy stuff in, yes. My DCs drink it in moderation, as do we (maybe a can a week each). I don't actively offer it to visiting kids, its in a fridge in the garage, but if my DCs ask if they can have one then that's fine (they are secondary school age).

schooltripwoes · 19/07/2018 07:24

Day-to-day, we only have water or milk. I don't buy squash / juice.

If it was a family party / Christmas, we'd probably have juice / Shloer / cordial available for the non-drinkers, so children would be welcome to have these too.

For a child's birthday party, I'd probably buy some small cartons of apple / orange juice.

MyOtherProfile · 19/07/2018 07:34

This is so funny. OP asks what non alcoholic drinks people serve. 4 pages of different combinations of milk, water, squash, juice, fizz (are there any other options? Their own urine?) and no return from the op. I guess they realised it was a bit of a dull and limited question!

Notso · 19/07/2018 07:50

Hmm
Mum2OneTeen · 19/07/2018 07:50

Water

NerrSnerr · 19/07/2018 07:58

Whatever we have. Our children are young so if children visit it's with parents. We usually have water, milk, squash, chocolate milk, we usually have Diet Coke but not many parents of 3 year olds have that for their children.

I love the shock on the thread that people still offer juice ShockShock. If I drunk it regular enough to have it in I'd offer it. Maybe if a child was drinking numerous glasses every day it would have a detrimental effect but one glass on a play date?

Bloodybridget · 21/07/2018 15:01

I don't know any children who drink tea or coffee, so I never offer it. I drank both from very young, but they seem to be on a par with neat meths for anyone under 18 now . .

PinkBuffalo · 21/07/2018 15:04

Water or squash normally. At the moment I have some Capri suns in the fridge as it very hot, so my niece will sometimes have one of them in the summer.
