Hubby has taken our dog to a local wood, and lets the dog go for a run.
He goes at different times and different days.
He came home and told me that he has seen the same woman ghost five separate times so far. Tonight with bonnet wearing woman made him jump when she popped up in front of him. When he said 'you made me jump', she smiled nodded and walked away from him.

He was quite serious but I asked why he thought she was a dead/ ghost? He said because she is wearing a long coat and a bonnet type hat.
AIBU to suggest that this woman isn't dead, isn't a ghost and is an odd lady with a strange fashion sense?
He is quite firm she is a ghost, and walks along the path but not on it though the trees.

personally I am glad we are going on holiday soon my hubby really needs it asap.
Then again AIBU?

Am disappointed that OP hasn't been back to say if she saw anything.

The arguments are tedious. AIBU or not we could all do to live and let live a bit more. No one has to be 'right'.

FWIW I have witnessed a gentleman open my front door for me several times. The first time it happened I was walking down the path and thought it was DH. I wondered why he had just opened the door and walked into the dining room without saying anything. I thought he was in a mood! When I walked in he was upstairs working at his computer.

Can anyone explain this one? Broad daylight.

AgathaRaisonDetra · 24/07/2018 22:21

It was your DH's secret twin brother, you know, the one who lives under the stairs.

mellongoose · 24/07/2018 22:33

Of course. We had forgotten all about him. Thanks for clearing that up. Could have been awkward Grin

SneakyGremlins · 24/07/2018 22:36

I still haven't found the knife that disappeared off the counter while I turned around, washed my hands, and turned back to the counter - took no longer than 30 seconds.

AgathaRaisonDetra · 24/07/2018 22:51

That was Slobby, your not very efficient House Elf.

SneakyGremlins · 24/07/2018 22:52

No, cause I fired him a year ago for sleeping with the cat Hmm

AnxiousPeg · 24/07/2018 23:06

Ah, you were probably asleep Gremlins

SneakyGremlins · 24/07/2018 23:07

Grin wow, never made a pie in my sleep before!

AnxiousPeg · 24/07/2018 23:09

See. Got skills you didn't even know about.

VanillaSugar · 25/07/2018 08:07

The scientific explanation is that you were probably on crack cocaine. Or you have a burglar who stole the knife and is now waiting in a dark corner ready to chop you up into leeeetle pieces.

PortiaCastis · 25/07/2018 09:55

Have you been to Specsavers Grems?

lowresidue · 25/07/2018 11:26

I went with hubby and the dog the other day.

I actually saw the woman he thought was a ghost!

so, not a ghost, but as for bonnet, yes , straw with a flower, black long linen dress, and small straw handbag. and pretty red lipstick.

now.....the odd part. you have to drive to get to these woods, and apart from a field with horses and stables, the area surrounding the woods are farmers fields. The one country road has one small layby where we parked. when we have gone before other cars with dog walkers are there. No sign of another car.
The woman was walking past us, so possibly came from the stables, although rather nicely dressed to visit horses. iyswim. and she was walking purposely away in opposite direction, and once out of woods their is nothing but fields. The one road is narrow, doesn't have a path and its miles to the nearest village.

hubby saw her again the other day, walking in same direction different time of day.

She obviously likes a walk. Grin

ajandjjmum · 25/07/2018 19:57

So did you have a chat with her?

PanPanPanPing · 26/07/2018 09:40

What sort of age do you think she is (not that it's particularly relevant)? So she might live at the stables, or at one of the local farms? I agree with Adora, she obviously likes walking in those woods!

lowresidue · 26/07/2018 12:20

about 40's I think. walking with a purpose iyswim, not strolling. so perhaps. long walk though.

So, as expected, she’s just a lady out for a walk. No conspiracy, no drama and obviously nothing supernatural!

I don’t really understand the obsession- let the poor woman go for a walk! It’s really nothing to do with with you who she is/where she goes/ what she wears.

AgathaRaisonDetra · 26/07/2018 15:07

@Wildlingofthewest odfod

Wildlingofthewest · 26/07/2018 15:09

Odfod....????? What does that mean????

VelvetGreen · 26/07/2018 15:42

I used to have a job that involved wearing historical costume, and also lived in the middle of nowhere so would get the bus so far then walk the rest of the way. I'm wondering reading this if anyone is still relating tales of seeing the ghost of a young woman in Jacobean clothes strolling through the fields at dusk!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 26/07/2018 20:05

Wildlingofthewest it means Oh Do Fuck Off Dear. Standard response when someone doesn’t agree with you but can’t be bothered to explain why.

Kr3000 · 26/07/2018 20:22

I had an instance while getting ready for school one day. I was in the bath upstairs and heard my sisters Smashing Pumpkins CD playing downstairs. Loud enough to sing along. I thought it was odd as she should have left an hour earlier, but thought nothing of it. Then I heard someone knocking at the back door underneath the bathroom. Looked out the window, no one there. Then I heard my dog scratching the bathroom door to get in. I called his name, he scratched again and then nothing. I got out of the bath and went downstairs. The door was closed meaning the dog could not have been upstairs. The CD was on the side and the stereo unplugged. I spoke to my sister who had indeed left an hour earlier.

Another instance was when my sister and I were out riding horses. We were on a bridle path known as Hangman's Way due to an unfortunate incident. At the point where the individual had hung themselves, my sisters horse refused to go forward. Rearing up and clearly terrified. As mine was a lot more placid we went first. At the exact point my horse fell over injuring his poor top lip and sending me flying. That was scary!

PanPanPanPing · 27/07/2018 09:14

Wildlingofthewest, the only reason the OP described the woman in some detail was just to prove her DH was a numpty for thinking she was a ghost Grin

HarryPotterISreal · 30/07/2018 23:29

Most ghost sightings happen when it’s quiet, dark, deserted...

Maybe most ghosts appear in crowds e.g. attracted to the life force or something, but then you can’t tell that some people in the crowd are ghosts.

HarryPotterISreal · 31/07/2018 20:17

I guess I killed the thread...
