To want toenail fungus to go forever

nomorecoffee · 15/07/2018 16:10

Please help! Can anyone suggest any remedies that work for toenail fungus? I read somewhere that soaking feet in listerine works well...has anyone ever tried it? If so does it work? It's ruined my summer as I would love to wear sandals but feel so conscious. I don't want to cover it with nail polish as I think it may make it worse :-((

@Kitsandkids neat tea tree oil sorts athletes foot. Stings a bit but apply twice a day and it will get rid of it quickly. You will need to treat your shoes too.

fernellabella I've got an appointment with the chirpodist tomorrow funnily enough. It's the way my toe nails grow, they need to be a certain length in order to cut them short iyswim. They don't rub or feel uncomfortable but my big toe does start to feel heavy.

Thanks Clitterati, I will give it a try. Where's the best place to get tea tree oil in an ordinary town centre?

Jeffstar79 · 15/07/2018 21:56

My Chiropodist recommends Vicks and says it works as well as anything else

LoafEater · 15/07/2018 21:56

Superdrug has its own range of tea tree oil stuff

Clinicallysilly · 15/07/2018 21:57

@Kitsandkids Boots, larger chemists, holland & Barratts and most health food stores sell tea tree oil.

Re athletes foot over in the "soap instead of shower gel" thread, many people are reporting an improvement in athletes foot after switching to soap.

How do people know the fungus has gone in 3 weeks?

Mine took longer but my nail wasn't thick and discoloured. Fungus was under my nail, looked as if it was an infection, bright yellow band just above the cuticle.

AdventuresRUs · 17/07/2018 09:22

Mine isnt really visible - on 3 nails they're beginning to pull away and one nail developed a horizontal ridge and split half way (fingernails) but I cant see how I'll know when the fungus has gone- just that hopefully the nails will grow....
