Has anyone left a tampon in too long

This is not aibu but I would appreciate jock answers and this is the one section to guarantee that.

Today I found a lost tampon.

Never happened to me before.
I've been using tampons twenty plus years.

It was in for ten days.

No smell. No itching nothing.

Today got up and my pyjamas felt slightly damp and again a few hours later. The dampness Smelt funny.

Googled it. Had a feel and there was a tampon. It had gone up, went sideways and there was no string. It's no out.

I feel fine.

I've obviously showered etc and had a good clean. Do or should I need to do anything else?

OMG, i saw you'd posted a picture and as i was scrolling down i was thinking "please no, not a picture of the tampon"!

I've never been so pleased to see a glass of gin

fieryginger · 14/07/2018 17:44

I've done this. If it's out and you feel fine, I'd just leave it but be aware that if you start to feel unwell, seek medical help fast.

deffonamechanging · 14/07/2018 17:48

Omfg no. I had to name change to post this I was so ashamed! I would never post a
Pic.

Revolution the chain of bars, has a bogof on gin cocktails. They are all lovely. Well the ones we've had so far.

RowenaDedalus · 14/07/2018 17:54

I left one in for a month once.
Grim as fuck. Never again have I changed a tampon drunk (aka left one in and just put an extra in without noticing....)

HRTpatch · 14/07/2018 17:59

Yes done it..had to be removed by a very attractive doctor who I saw 2 days later in the pub.

deffonamechanging · 14/07/2018 18:47

They have seen it all and worse haven't they

greenlavender · 14/07/2018 18:53

I've done this, no side effects.

deffonamechanging · 14/07/2018 18:57

Right ladies thanks for the reassurance. It's been very supportive.

In off to change my user name back now.

Too many gins in to try and do it later.

Have a lovely evening everyone xxx

I left my moon cup in for 3 days after the end of my period. I had a rare bath and felt something unusual... i had sex with dp at least once with it in but To be fair I had totally removed all the stem. I was fine after but emptying it wasn't nice.

NecklessMumster · 14/07/2018 19:32

I've done this...I don't know how I forgot it but I did. I went to see gp for what I thought was a watery discharge, she took a look then got some very long tweezers things and pulled it out, said the tweezers were a present from her nurses as she had to do it a lot. I was mortified.

Treehouseroses · 14/07/2018 19:37

Have you considered a cup in the future? Best thing I ever did.

itsbritneybiatch · 14/07/2018 21:06

So for a first time cup user what cup should you get?any suggestions?

DrCorday · 14/07/2018 21:18

I got one stuck and had to go to a&e to remove it Blush
I was mortified

Apparently very common. The nurses were so blasé about it

Glad you’re all sorted.

TheSassyAssassin · 14/07/2018 21:26

I did this when very young once...prob around 13/14. Was on a school skiing trip and felt unwell for a couple of days but assumed it was just period related (go skiing, get period, brilliant Hmm). Went to change tampon and found another string once had removed one. To be fair, I was pretty new to using tampons and had completely forgot I had one in there already. Thankfully no real harm done but put fear of god in me and never ever done it again! Enjoy your Gin OP Smile

Treehouseroses · 15/07/2018 08:19

Oh re he cup I’m not sure. I found a site which talked about the pros and cons of different shapes and sizes based on whether you had children or not etc.

One of the benefits for me is being able to leave it in all day or night and just not worry about it. It’s been quite liberating!

Canshopwillshop · 15/07/2018 09:55

Just be careful with mooncups though and don’t assume they are automatically safer than tampons. They have also been associated with TSS. Obviously it’s still rare whether you use tampons or a cup.
