inspired by another thread, got me thinking about the dynamics in my own friendship group.

I have a large group of very close female friends (12) and I would say I only really like (as in, would seek them out for convo on a night out) about half of their DH/DPs. Of the other half, I would say I actively dislike the majority.

Given my friends and I have all been friends for aeons, they’re obviously all awesome and we share many of the same values, opinions and sense of humour, it’s kind of sad how many of them are hitched to pompous/boring/mean old farts.

Do you have a similar split in your friendship groups?

I can’t think of one I actively dislike. There is one who I took a while to warm to, but I really like him now, and one who I’ve gone off a bit (for becoming a bit smug, not for anything awful). Nothing more extreme than that though.

Only two friends are married (I have a small social circle due to being a bit socially inept). I only know the husband of one, and he’s lovely. I’ve only met the other one once, briefly, so I’ve no idea whether I like him or not.

Of my 8 closest friends
1 I really like and genuinely count as a friend
2 I think are fine, like them wouldn't actively seek to spend time with them iyswim
1 is very depressed and treats my friend like shit but used to be really nice so I'm not sure
4 I dislike immensely
My friends have a habit for picking patronising, boring, sexist men. All of the 4 I dislike constantly mansplain everything to me and other friends and treat their DPs like children, drives me insane.
