Yes, I know I'm BU to watch the show in the first place, obviously .

But does anyone else wonder how on earth those women cope with their periods when they spend the entire time on camera wearing thong bikinis or equally skimpy silky pyjama shorts while in bed spooning with a man they met the day before ? Surely every now and then they must be desperate to wear a great big pair of comfy pants padded with copious sanpro.

I was just thinking last night how come none of them has PMT bloating. They all have really flat stomachs. I have to suffer it because of DS. I can't believe it's so popular. Nothing happens!

SoupDragon · 13/07/2018 13:20

*Surely every woman knows there are ways to stop periodsg

Only by hysterectomy or messing around with hormones, neither of which will appeal to many women.

But the knowledge is still there, that was the point. Whether a woman chooses to use those methods is personal choice.

Swannykazoo · 13/07/2018 13:35

I was more wondering if they had a show hairdresser/beautician. I'm sure they won't all have dark roots and squirrels down their pants / chest stubble by the end of the show (as there is extensive manscaping as well as female grooming nb)

JustDanceAddict · 13/07/2018 13:40

They’re prob all on the pill, but I use Tampons and wear bikini although wouldn’t like to be filmed for tv at that point!

M3lon · 13/07/2018 13:41

notacool oh I really am! I'm genuinely cool with my looks ruling me out of reality TV....though it would be nice to be sufficiently normal looking that strangers didn't feel the need to make cruel comments.

I'd also like to start a campaign to increase the representation of ugly people in movies/TV. We are very rarely portrayed at all and when we are it is heavily stereotyped. I mean we are usually portrayed as thick, evil, friendless, loners etc. which doesn't really help much.

JustDanceAddict · 13/07/2018 13:48

M3lon would love to see a normal/ugly persons LI show. Would be far more interesting focusing on personalities rather than looks.
I’m far from good looking - don’t like to say ugly as it’s a horrible word - but I have many friends, a husband, kids, a job etc. so you are totally right. Might have to work harder for things than those blessed with good looks but it’s character building!
Sorry strangers make comments - I used to get that a bit but not now prob cos I’m
Older and no-one looks at me any more!!!

M3lon · 13/07/2018 13:55

just yes...being ugly does have the benefit that you have somewhat less to loose as ageing comes in. Also you don't have to redefine your self or find something else to have some self-esteem in other than your beauty.

You also (well in my case anyway) save a lot of money on cosmetics. I honestly look even worse if it looks likes I've tried in any sense...so my yearly make up bill is about £5. Grin I suppose there is also all the time I save in the mornings...but tbh I fritter that away on social media so not that useful really!

JustDanceAddict · 13/07/2018 14:06

That’s def true re ageing. Some of my better looking friends have mourned the loss of their looks but I never had them to mourn in the first place! The figure is a different matter though...
I do wear make-up but not a load. I def look better with it, but I’m not very good at it.

Nodancingshoes · 13/07/2018 14:25

I have the implant and don't have any periods... Or I guess they use tampons - easy to hide even in a thong bikini!

HelenaDove · 13/07/2018 14:34

I was on the Depo in my early thirties for 5 years. I bled for a couple of months and then no periods until 9 months after i came off it.

I did bleed during my few months on the Mini Pill though.

Looks wise the body is a bit fucked. Loose skin from weight loss.

But face wise i dont have any wrinkles yet. Im 45 I dont sunbathe smoke or drink so i think its not doing these things that have helped.

M3lon · 13/07/2018 15:34

We should have a real mums of mumsnet show....

I think my getting all dressed up in most of the clothes I own plus rubber gloves to go take the lid off our wasp infested compost heap would have made for decent entertainment....

Drummingisfun · 13/07/2018 15:44

Clearly they all have a mooncup.

ChristmasFluff · 13/07/2018 16:46

I remember being in my 20s when a period was something that wasn't a major problem to me (1980s). Lots of women don't have really heavy/painful periods, so I presume that's one of the self-selecting bits of Love Island?
