Eurocamp holiday?

Sorry i know iabu to post here as it's not aibu but want some quick replies!

We are looking at Eurocamp next spring...
it seems expensive.

We are also going as 2 families in 1 accommodation so 4 adults with 5 children under 5 so will need 2 cots and their accommodation seems like it would seriously struggle to fit 9 people including the 2 cots in...

The 3 'older' kids can share a room but would need two other double / twin rooms with space for a cot in both.

Any other recommendations would be hugely appreciated!

You will not fit in 4 adults and 5 children even if 2 are in cots. You will need two units.

VenturingAway · 09/07/2018 13:59

That's what I was concerned about - the kids from both families really want to share but aren't really old enough to be away from parents in another unit yet. 😬

Look at the campsites you like then find them online direct. A lot of them have their own accommodation which is often bigger as it's chalets etc.

You definitely will need 2 if it's a 'normal' static caravan set up.

Eurocamp really come into their own for kids clubs but yours are too small so I wouldn't pay the extra this year tbh. Go direct instead.

aprilanne · 09/07/2018 14:04

berny riviere in north france do 10 people log cabins very nice not the cheapest but for size and comfort great think its also called du pont or something like that canvas holidays do the cabins

Slatternsdelight · 09/07/2018 14:04

Definitely need 2 units

To get the best deal I would use the sun holiday codes-you can find them online (myholidayguru is a good site) so you don't actually have to buy the paper 😆

You can then contact Eurocamp directly to upgrade if needed or add extra days etc

We paid £100 for a week at one of the 5* toddler friendly splashpark Eurocamp sites in France as a result of using the sun codes-same unit without the discount would have been pushing £500

Elementtree · 09/07/2018 14:07

Don't do it. We crow-barred 4 adults and three kids into the largest static with the decking and it was a bloody nightmare.

dingdongdigeridoo · 09/07/2018 14:22

I remember as a kid being squeezed into a a caravan with 2 siblings, parents and grandparents. Technically, we were in capacity, but it was bloody claustrophobic! The main issues were sharing the one loo and shower in the morning, then having enough privacy to get dressed. Cooking and serving food to 7 people was also difficult.

Get two caravans and ask if you can be sited next to each other. Eurocamp have lots of deals throughout the year, or their tents are really nice and inexpensive.

TheMonkeyMummy · 09/07/2018 14:25

Two caravans and kids can sleepover

Simples

Drummingisfun · 09/07/2018 14:33

Yeah, it'll be too small.
I second using sun codes if you aren't too picky about a specific site or date.
Doesn't work for us as we are teachers and summer holidays availability is minimal. But can save a fortune otherwise.

VenturingAway · 09/07/2018 14:50

Ah - yes two teachers in our group as well so might struggle with the sun codes. Will definitely have a look though!
Thanks for all your advice, we won't be trying to squash us in one then! Lol.

Two of the kids will be 5 & 6 month old babies and the others are 3, 4 & 4.5 so old enough to be excited and doing activities together.

Any other parks like this that aren't Eurocamp that you could recommend?

VenturingAway · 09/07/2018 14:54

The price of Eurocamp is actually good for us if we were sharing a unit, it's when you start needing two units that it gets expensive.
Plus the older kids would be soooo excited to share a room! Lol.
It would also be lovely to have a meal out as a couple and one unit would allow both couples to do this.

We paid £340 for a week this last May for Eurocamp in Italy. I consider it cheap(ish).

SlipperyLizard · 09/07/2018 16:04

I will never use Eurocanp again after, instead of putting me and the other family we went with next to (or even near to) each other as requested (although they said it wasn’t guaranteed), they placed us literally at opposite ends of the park!

Other operators at the same site seemed able to place groups together, I suspect the Eurocamp reps on site simply didn’t care enough to plan properly.

Jeezoh · 09/07/2018 16:36

Look at Siblu - you can choose which pitch you have so can get two next to each other. We have the 3 bed/2 bathroom ones for 5 of us and I wouldn’t want any more in there. We find it cheaper than Eurocamp

VenturingAway · 09/07/2018 18:15

I will definitely look at siblu- thanks!

Have a look at capfun. They do large caravans which look like two stuck together in an L shape. They call them "Tribu + Top Presta"

Their campsite look very exciting with amazing pools and water slides. Can't comment on what they are like, I just remember seeing the extra large vans when looking and thought it was a great idea.

We went with Eurocamp a few times. Believe me, you will not have a happy holiday with all those people in a mobile home. The double bedroom fits just a double bed - hardly room for anything at all in there. The living room is fine - it's the biggest room - and you can have a double bed in there. The small bedroom has two single beds - and they are VERY narrow. So three children wouldn't fit into the small bedroom at all. The couple in the living room would have to have both babies. Everywhere gets very, very hot and humid - you feel like you're going mad in that double bedroom if you don't have the door open.

I loved those holidays but we went with another family and we'd each have a mobile home.

VenturingAway · 10/07/2018 08:35

Ooh thanks. Some great advice on here!
Will look at capfun too!

Look up Gustocamp OP. V similar to Eurocamp and a lot cheaper. Great locations too.

VenturingAway · 11/07/2018 11:59

Brilliant, will do! Thanks socks.

Ive done a few eurocamps and I remember one i did - l'atlantique in Brittany, where they had 2 families with one caravan and one static tent next to each other and that looked like a good set-up, because it meant the ones in the tent could have the benefits of the caravans loo and shower I guess, but cheaper than two caravans. That was a lovely site actually.
You will never get two families in one caravan. The biggest are 3 beds.
I think at a real push, you could get 7 in, but youd be cramped

Branleuse · 11/07/2018 19:52

although tbh, id probably try and go further south if youre looking at the spring, but i think if youre on a tight budget and its outside of school holidays, that could be a really good way to do it. You can often see site maps on the eurocamp site, so you could see if that sort of arrangement is available. Ive always found eurocamp to be really helpful and nice on the phone too, to help you find the sort of set up you want

FortheloveofCod · 11/07/2018 19:55

If anyone is NHS staff they get 50% discount offthe booking. So get them to book the holiday.

I wish say you need two caravans and agree you should try direct too.

inthisdayandage · 11/07/2018 19:59

Are you planning on a ferry over. If so look at booking whole package of ferry and campsite together on Brittany ferry’s holiday site. We found it much cheaper
