Why oh why do they always do close ups of attractive women crying when their team loses?! Does anyone else find this a bit creepy? Disclaimer- I have no idea if they are men and this is slightly lighthearted before anyone feels the need to froth.

Yes feminist women love women being picked out for their looks. It's the corner stone of any feminist movement.

hot weather story? Young women in bikinis

You rarely see a bloke on the beach picture when there's a hot weather story.

Attractive women are used as 'props' for the male gaze and to sell things.

(waits for the Diet Coke ad to be raised as the counter)

Advertising a beach holiday?
Need someone to pose by the pool?

I am sure an agency can provide someone attractive for you to look at.

I don't think it's difficult to find an attractive Swedish fan tbh. They're all gorgeous. Male or female.

Can get behind putting fit blokes on the telly too all in the name of equality.
Bring em on.

There's not as many stereotypically attractive men as there are women though as they don't have the same sociatal pressure to all look a certain way.

DH and I made exactly the same comment earlier.

Swedish are a notoriously attractive race though, generally.

My Dsis's boyfriend was easy on the eye, and he was zoomed in on - I forget which match - I'm thinking last World Cup. He was cheering when England scored a goal - so I think they just zoom in on attractive people. But particulalry girls probably.

Bagadverts · 08/07/2018 00:45

The attractive women thing is bad, but I really hate when they show children distressed at their team losing.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 08/07/2018 00:48

Who wants to look at ugly people? Of course it makes sense to focus on the attractive ones that will attract advertising dollars.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 08/07/2018 00:51

There's not as many stereo-typically attractive men as there are women though
Umm its 100% eye candy for the women on the pitch. So balanced in favour of women surly.

NicolaMarlowsMerlin · 08/07/2018 10:09

We were laughing at this -that particularly beautiful blonde woman with the slightly curly hair who was SO SAD at the end. DD (10) was outraged that she was being singled out “so unfair mum, perhaps she just wants to cry in peace! Her team just lost!”

Buster72 · 08/07/2018 10:22

They also focus on kids. And grown men weeping and hugging.
And the respective national leaders
Really don't see any issue here

Yes, they do.

But they disproportionally focus on young, attractive women.

If you were to take the pictures used as a random sample of the audience, you'd assume it was 90% young attractive women.
