To wonder why Rebecca Vardy is chief WAG when her husband isn't even playing?

It seems to me the sucess of the England team so far is that the players egos aren't put before their place in the team.

They are a young, proud team doing their best for their country.

Why then is Rebecca Vardy the WAG in chief when her bloke isn't even playing?

VB was the key to making brand Beckham a success - if some of the profit from that goes back into her business, so what? She earned that money as much as DB did, so it's hers to spend.
DB was a good footballer but he's hardly the sharpest knife in the drawer - his continued relevance is down to good management of the brand. Which she orchestrated.
When they met, she was very much at the top of her game - DB has benefitted as much from his association with her as the other way around.

VB has had 4 dc with him, of course she isn't going to divorce him and risk him squandering her kids inheritance on some other woman. All the time it is lucrative to them both to remain married, they will do so. That doesn't make her a doormat.

I think Simon Fuller is the brains behind the Beckham brand. Certainly not Victoria or David.

I had never even heard of this woman until this thread was highlighted in the MN 'trending' sidebar. I don't know and don't care about her, or her intelligence. If you RTFT, you will see that I thought she was the chief executive of something meaningful (or some such), and wondered why she shouldn't be.

Rebecca Vardy was on the same flight as I was when England played Germany in a friendly.

It was a day trip for the match and she turned up with a suitcase and her own PR Guy. I saw her in Berlin and on the flight on the way home and she had changed outfits 3 times.

She courts publicity. She wouldn't have looked twice at Vardy when he was a non-league player, wearing a tag.

Being married to him gives her the attention she craves. Bit sad really.

Well she's obviously not as famous as she'd like, because everyone has been spelling her name Rebecca, and I'm pretty sure her's is spelt like my middle name is (Rebekah)!

The media only publish articles about and pictures of ‘WAGs’ to attract clicks from women who are not normally interested in football. It seems to work, bizarrely.

Football fans couldn’t care less about Jamie Vardy’s wife. We are far more concerned about his groin strain....

Mrs Vardy (who claims she does not wish her identity to be defined by her famous millionaire husband) nevertheless touts the surname Vardy at every opportunity. I wonder why.....

Julia Carling, Angie Best, Angie Bowie, Ivana Trump (to pick out a few) have all been married to and have divorced famous husbands and have hung onto their married names like leeches otherwise they'd have to sink back into foggy anonymity.......and we can't have that, can we?
