To have snapped at this dog owner?

Sat by the fountain in town and a bloke comes along with an enormous dog - think St Bernard - off the lead. Dog is sniffing all over me and I don't like dogs so ask him politely if he can call it over. He laughs and says it's just being friendly.

Dog then wipes a mouthful of slobber all over my trousers Envy

I admit I did snap a bit and use the words "fucking dog" and "no common decency".

Was I BU? Blush I wouldn't normally confront him but I have a bit of a dog phobia and I really don't like them. And these were freshly washed trousers, only been wearing them 20 bloody minutes..

I’ve got a slobbery dog, no way would I let him approach an unsuspecting passer by. However, I tend to have the opposite problem - people go out of their way to come over and say hi to him, pet him and encourage him to be friendly. I warn them that he’s often damp (particularly at the moment, all our walks involve swimming in the stream) and can slobber. But if he then rubs his head on them and they get slobbered I get a mouthful of abuse Angry.

I wouldn't let a man slobber all over me just because he is being friendly why should I let a dog do so? Its perfectly sensible to use self defence against an uncontrolled animal that could bite/claw you any second.
