Sweetcorn - AIBU or is DH?

Making tuna pasta salad for lunch today. I opened some sweetcorn and DH stood, staring at me, as I banged the bottom of the can to get the chunks out. He asked me "why are you banging it" and I explained that I don't like to leave any sweetcorn/beans in tins because it worries me that the bean leftover will be lonely and not fulfil it's purpose in life.

DH says that I'm officially batshit and that he's never heard anything so ridiculous. He said he'd give me £10 to leave two sweetcorn pieces in the bottom of the tin and I couldn't do it.

Surely it's not BU, it's just a little quirk?

I thought this thread would be something like your dh refuses to let you waste good food and throw out all your frozen sweet corn after the recall on it Grin

TheAntiBoop · 07/07/2018 14:58

Those of you who don't want the sweet corn to feel it hasn't fulfilled its purposes - that presupposes that the sweet corn is happy to be killed and eaten?

Toddlerteaplease · 07/07/2018 15:04

Guilty as charged hear too!

Toddlerteaplease · 07/07/2018 15:05

Here

I try to not bother about them, but then I have to get a spoon to get the last one or two out :D

SuperL you beat me to it! I too have found my people... also when I turn the hot water off at night I give the boiler a little pat and say 'thank you' but I suspect that's a whole 'nother level Grin

Along the same vein (ish) all late birthday /christmas cards (no matter how late) and christmas cards delivered to us in error (or addressed to any previous owner whose new address we don't know) have to be displayed to fulfil their life's purpose Grin

Wedontbelievewhatsontv · 07/07/2018 15:41

Bahahaha Grin I have found my people! This is one of my early memories with Rice Crispies . . my daughter is the same!

JustJoinedRightNow · 07/07/2018 15:43

Thank you MaybeICanHelp, that is precisely the word!

runbeerrunbeer · 07/07/2018 16:09

@Maybeicanhelp sounds completely legit. I'll have to borrow that one now 🤣.

I also drive him potty by eating the crust. Apparently that's just there to keep the rest of the bread fresh. 🙄. Whatever.
If you have 2 slices of toast, you have to make sure you have almost exactly the same amount of beans on each, don't you? ...So one slice of toast doesn't look like the poor relation. This is also something we have to agree to disagree on in our house as DH throws beans on in any old fashion and thinks that's an acceptable way to live. 😁.

Laiste · 07/07/2018 17:07

Oh the xmas card which arrives for previous house owner every bloomin' year ... yes! I put them up with the others too. It's not their fault Grin

Marriedwithchildren5 · 07/07/2018 17:26

I say please and Thank you to Alexa. Doubt the bitch would ever extend me the same courtesy. Theres no 'sorry' when she completely gets my song choice wrong!

The worst thing ever is when someone like Nigella makes a cake and leaves 30% of the cake mix on the sides of the bowl

tethersend · 07/07/2018 18:36

I feel sorry for utensils which come straight out of the dishwasher, get used then put in the dishwasher again.

They don’t get to play with their friends in the drawer Sad
