Based on the fact that football players of all nationalities seem to yell 'FUCCCCK' an awful lot. Grin

FuckingHateRain · 06/07/2018 23:31

And the best:: pisoglentis

banivani · 06/07/2018 23:33

Also let me recommend the blog Strong Language!

Sharkwithknees · 06/07/2018 23:34

First thing I done when I arrived in germany was learn the swears. I always say verdammte Scheiße instead of swearing in English in front of DD Grin

hellokittymania · 07/07/2018 00:19

I think I read one in Romanian about fuck your dead Family members.

And in Vietnamese, you can always say du me which is fuck your mother.

I don’t know how you write this properly, but in dialect from Sardinia you also have figlio bagazza which I think is like bastard.

You have a lot of really good Greek ones as well. Some involve saints, so you can say I fuck your virgin Mary or something. Gamo tin panagia sou. Or ai sto kalo is like go to hell.

hellokittymania · 07/07/2018 00:24

Fucking hate rain thank U for those, I didn’t know those. Especially the last one. Ha ha ha. I look innocent, so nobody will really teach me the bad things I want to know. I found the ones that I do know on the YouTube comments.

Can I just ask what is malakopitouro ?

TheAvengers33 · 07/07/2018 00:30

All languages have some good swear words, but nothing beats the f word!! It's very cathartic!

Lsnowe · 07/07/2018 00:48

@Solina Cheeky Bill Bryson! Maybe it wasn't Finnish. In the restaurant

Typhers · 07/07/2018 00:54

Don’t be silly the Germans are great at swearing. You’d be amazed at the multifunctional use and meaning of “Bumsen” 😄

KittyVonCatsworth · 07/07/2018 00:59

I found that Spanish have some great swear words 😂 never learned a jot out there really apart from puto and zorra. Oh, and when I mispronounced Scottish for a ‘rash after sex’. Spanish are awesome when it comes to swearing 😂

NuttyNutty · 07/07/2018 01:30

Russian is great for swearing. I met a guy once who could make himself perfectly clear in everyday matters by using nothing but horrible top-level swearwords and very creative grammar. He was a sort of poet - it takes real inspiration to just drop all usual lexicon and still make sense. Just inserting your blya, hahui, pizda & suka into conversation now seems lame in comparison.
The one language that has hardly any strong swearwords is Japanese. They say "crap" and similar, but it is not even close to f-bomb level. You can still be horribly rude and offensive but not by using specific words. It's a different style of being a dick.

justilou1 · 07/07/2018 01:38

German Flachwichse is an impotent wanker. Their swear words and insults are much more imaginative than ours!!!

HoomanMoomin · 07/07/2018 02:06

I love swearing in Russian. And Estonian. And Finnish. But English fuck is actually not as offensive in other languages. Estonians are using “fucking” as “bloody”. Not at all as strong word as in English. The same is with Russian swear words said by Estonians - not as offensive.
Russians are rarely using English swear words because they have their own absolutely gorgeous ones. Grin

Ski40 · 07/07/2018 02:22

I'm Spanish but my children are British born and bred and barely understand Spanish.
So when I burn or cut myself, stub my foot, drop something or the computer is being a cunt to me 🙈... I just yell "me cago en la putisima madre que te pario!!" "Joder!!" so I can vent without swearing in English in front of kids. 😜

halfwitpicker · 07/07/2018 02:38

Great thread.

French Canadian swear words are based on religion : tabernach, chalice, etc. Which sounds unsatisfying but actually hits the spot after a while.

A pp mentioned about other cultures saying fuck : same in French Canadien, 'fuck off' its used more like bog off /sod off. Surprising when niece said it in front of me Grin

PremierNaps · 07/07/2018 02:40

Suppose compared to most on here this is tame but kuk hue is dick head in Norwegian 😁

myrtleWilson · 07/07/2018 02:48

DD has started greeting us when we pick her up from a night out with "Hola putas". (she is six)

myrtleWilson · 07/07/2018 02:49

godammit strike out fail...

EBearhug · 07/07/2018 02:55

Welsh seems to be a bit rubbish on swearing. There's a bit of blasphemy, but no really satisfying swearing.

SadieHH · 07/07/2018 08:04

Great thread! But I need an actual, easy to refer to list Grin

Igneococcus · 07/07/2018 08:11

German has some swear words that sound great to my anglophone ear, but I don't think swear words in German have the power to shock that some of ours do.

They do if you are a native speaker. "Fotze" to a German speaker has every bit the impact that cunt has to an English speaker, more probably these days as it hasn't been as normalised as cunt has.
Bavarian has some great swear word, mostly mangling of religious words.

posieperkinandpootle · 07/07/2018 12:22

My neighbours have loud screaming arguments in their native language but interjected with some very colourful English swears. I've been tempted to go round and say at least have the manners to hold the whole thing in one language, either native tongue and no one will know what you're on about or all English and we can tell if that amount of swearing is justified. However yesterday's screaming matches seemed to be about tinfoil and clingfilm - I'm assuming neither translates. But I'm inclined to agree with Mrs Neighbour, clingfilm is a fucker.
