Long list of frozen veg that have potentially been exposed to the lysteria outbreak. I'm going through my freezer, and chucking the lot....

@OompaLump
I've just read symptoms can take up to 30
days to appear.

Out of interest anxiety how are other pregnant people responding to this? I've almost certainly eaten some of the recalled sweetcorn in the last month (although tesco are only recalling certain types and I can't remember which we had - finished a bag last week.) We microwave it which I've just seen may not be ideal and I've had a cold most of the week.. symptoms can be mild flu-like.

I used to give my kids frozen veg in a little teacup to eat when they were mithering me for food while I was cooking. Blush I had no idea I was risking giving them listeria!

BlueBug45 · 06/07/2018 19:24

@Bekabeech I've always used tinned sweetcorn in salads it never made sense to me to use frozen. I am not sure where I got that idea from but I've watched a lot of programs with food poisoning on them over the years.

Oh and all cucumbers say on the packaging to wash before use now. I noticed this a couple of years ago.

And pregnant women are advised not to eat pre-packed salads in lots of places.

KatherinaMinola · 06/07/2018 19:26

I did that the other day with frozen sweetcorn, Harold Shock

Any idea how long listeria takes to take hold?

TentUpFirstBunkUpLater · 06/07/2018 19:31

Who eats frozen veg without cooking it?

It is blanched and then frozen I think. (My parents did it in the '70s with our garden crop)

Cook it and stop stressing

If I had any of that I would cook it and go on my merry way

welshweasel · 06/07/2018 19:35

Meh...I’m pregnant and I’m not going to chuck it, I’ll just carry on cooking it well! Such an overreaction.

And 9 people have died of listeria...since 2015...in the whole of Europe! That’s from all sources, not just frozen sweet corn. Nothing like some over dramatic reporting.

Kintan · 06/07/2018 20:29

I hadn’t realised that not cooking frozen veg was a thing! Even if we are having frozen sweet corn in a sandwich I always cook it first then let it cool.

Ketayuzu · 06/07/2018 20:49

Ocado said to us they couldn't refund it as it was a historic purchase.. but could give me a £5 voucher. But they only gave that when I asked for a refund!

Yuckyuckdandeliongood · 06/07/2018 20:51

Is there a particular date of the products?

HazelBite · 06/07/2018 22:05
