The above is a quote from The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring, said by Lord Elrond. At this stage, with POTUS practically pissing off every ally the US has while cosying up with several dictators, it seems quite apt.

I think they meant a snub to Scrotus and Melania. I don't think Scrotus would give a shit because he'd consider PoW and DoC as below him in the hierarchy of 'Who Is/Is Not More Powerful Or Popular Than Me', which is the only thing he cares about. He'd probably be more 'interested' in meeting Kate and Meghan than Charles or William, based on their popularity 'ratings' in the US.

Honest to God, I'm beginning to think Scrotus is a reincarnation of Henry VIII. Immoral, voracious, and emotionally stunted. And the supposed Christians in his sphere are also only too happy to change their moral values to accommodate his lack of the same to get what they want.

Snap, Roussette !

Not new, but a useful reminder on the eve of this misadventure:

Well, Putin's puppet thinks there's summit in it for him:

Love that Gump!

Once again he just doesn't get it. It's not about 'getting' anything. It's about honesty, democracy, and basic human rights. None of which means shit to him.

Across

Do you think that people will come out and vote at the Midterms?

ohmymimi · 15/07/2018 18:59

This is a different class of 'funny' Gump. The Ringmaster complains about his own clownshow:

Honestly, I don't know. I live in a very blue state so there's a bit of apathy to be expected especially since the two senate candidates are both dems. But there is the governorship on the line and some hotly contested House districts that will need every single dem vote as well as a large number of swing votes to flip the district (including my own largely red district).

I don't know what the feeling is in the swing states whete could go either way on every race. I certainly hope the local Dem Committee is doing their best to show that every vote counts.

Gumpendorf · 15/07/2018 19:06

Gowdy is weird, mini

But by far from the only one. Confused

Gumpendorf · 15/07/2018 19:18

I was just reading this article on the bias against Dems in the voting process.

I think this is simplistic, but he's obviously sensitive to claims he didn't win the election bigly, which is why he emphasises his huge victory to everyone nearly 2 years later. Including the fact he is not the only Republican since Eisenhower to win Wisconsin Wink

Yet another trick Maybot missed on this disastrous trumptrip. She seems incapable of thinking on her feet. She could not have demonstrated more clearly how dim, dull and desperate she is. Instead of fawning and enabling so embarssingly, she should have stood up for us and our free press. The absolute least she should have done is call on CNN immediately after.
@DavidJollyFL
Absolute garbage statement from @PressSec. Trump's takedown of @CNN on foreign soil was one of his most shameful moments among a scorecard of many.
Sarah Sanders
@PressSec
Actually a @CNN reporter disrespected @POTUS & PM May during their press conf. Instead of rewarding bad behavior, we decided to reprioritize the TV appearances for administration officials. (link: twitter.com/jaketapper/status/1018172247297540096) twitter.com/jaketapper/sta…

ohmymimi · 15/07/2018 21:32

I agree, Gump, there is a lot of very complex stuff that rules his behaviour towards Russia in particular. Surely, his narcissism means that accepting that his election was illegitimate in any way would mean facing what seems to lie deep in his psyche, the knowledge that he is really nothing he claims to be; he would do almost anything to protect that part of himself from exposure. His admiration of autocrats is linked to that, in that they aren't subject to questioning or the scrutiny of a free press, they lauded and applauded. Plus, he must know what Putin has on him, both illegitimate financial activity and whatever sexual 'indiscretions' he committed on his trips there. There appears to me way too much evidence in his behaviour of his consciousness of guilt to explain his aberrant behaviour as him being discomfited. He is running scared.

lljkk · 15/07/2018 21:46

Ever the victim blamer. Angry
DNC should be "ashamed of themselves" for letting the Russians hack into their servers. Besides, the Russians hacked in during the Obama administration, so must be Obama's fault, ultimately.

lljkk · 15/07/2018 21:53

otoh, I'm a new fan of Donald Tusk :) : fake news rebuffer indeed.

lionheart · 15/07/2018 21:55

He's in a bit of a bind and what you say makes sense ohmy.

Gumpendorf · 15/07/2018 22:32

There appears to me way too much evidence in his behaviour of his consciousness of guilt to explain his aberrant behaviour as him being discomfited. He is running scared.

It's that behaviour that made me pause, mini. He clearly colluded, he knows he has colluded and now he's trying to cover it up. It's more than ego talking.

His advice to May to sue the EU is part of the same behaviour. He's never been accountable for anything, he just throws shade and hopes they will go away. Becoming President has exposed him and his misdeeds.

Gumpendorf · 15/07/2018 22:35

Example: Republican politicians will do anything for the gun lobby. Watch in full- it’s hilarious and terrifying how stupid and greedy these politicians are. Cc: @SHOwhoisAmerica https://twitter.com/OpWolverines/status/1018543374964420610/video/1

This looks to be a frightening spoof but it was reposted by @rvawonk who is a credible source. And it's the gun lobby so it was only a matter of time before they identified a part of the US population they were missing. As the man says, there's no age limits on the 2nd Amendment ShockSad

SanFranBear · 15/07/2018 23:15

Just back from a wonderful weekend away with two of my oldest friends (am looking decidedly pink!)

One has worked in the US for just shy of 20 years, has been married to an American for 13 and has two, American born children. She has never wanted to become a citizen - immediately after the election, she started the process and she became a US citizen last summer - purely so she could vote!

She said the ceremony was incredible and there were people from all walks of life whose journey to citizenship was much more arduous than hers. They were so proud to stand up! As part of the ceremony, you get a chance to say where you're originally from and why you wanted your citizenship and she said there were many, many people in that room of approx 60 people whose reason was to be able to vote.

My friend is utterly disgusted with the current situation as she lives in a red state who embrace all that Scrotus stands for. But whilst it's unlikely the tide will turn where she lives, she feels quietly confident that the midterms will start the change. I can only hope she's right!

lionheart · 16/07/2018 01:17

That's wonderful to hear SanFranBear.

Trump is talking more, and his dishonesty density is increasing - partly because he is going off-piste more often. Daniel Dale has done some fascinating number-crunching:

Trump has said 1,340,330 words as president. They’re getting more dishonest, a Star study shows
