Specifically where to stay for two or three days if you like nature, the sea and peace and quiet?

Love Waterford, Kilarney, Cork, Kerry... Just beautiful

Sheena99 · 01/07/2018 14:58

Connemara, out towards Clifden or Roundstone on the west coast should fit that bill.

FriteFuaite · 01/07/2018 14:58

Wexford is lovely; Morriscastle, Curracloe, Kilmore Quay...

Are you flying or driving?

LoveInTokyo · 01/07/2018 15:00

Flying into Dublin and then hiring a car.

Are you doing the whole of Ireland? Northern Ireland is beautiful, especially the north coast. There's some beautiful beaches, some very rocky and dramatic! There's also 'coast roads' you can follow to get the best scenery. And of course there's the usual touristy things like Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede ropebridge, Titanic Belfast etc.

LoveInTokyo · 01/07/2018 15:05

Unfortunately we only have a few days so we were thinking of just picking one place to relax for three days and then spending the last night in Dublin.

Wish we had longer!

Wicklow. Close to Dublin has everything you want, mountains, lakes, the sea, historic sites like Glendalough etc.

For two or three days it's ideal.

Celticmombella · 01/07/2018 15:12

Dogs bay, roundstone in connemara. It is amazing

missyB1 · 01/07/2018 15:12

Brother and Sil have just got back from Wexford, they loved it so much they are planning to retire there.

Agreed, it's beautiful.

whatnextfred · 01/07/2018 15:21

Kenmare. Most beautiful place on earth

RavenWings · 01/07/2018 15:22

Donegal. Lots of nature, sea and peace. Unfortunately it's not easy at all to get to when driving, but you could fly up (20 mins!) and hire a car there. You won't need a car in Dublin.

Kerry and Connemara are stunning but will be more likely to have a million tourists, especially at this time of year. If you went a bit off the beaten track in those areas they'd be fine

juneybean · 01/07/2018 15:24

I've only been to Greystones but I loved it!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 01/07/2018 15:27

Well it doesn’t matter where you go for three days, you’ll be wanting to go back again! I was going to suggest Achill Island, Co. Mayo but if you’ve booked your flights to Dublin already, go there next time Wink.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 01/07/2018 15:29

It tends to take longer to drive the same distance in Ireland than it would in the UK so if you only have a couple of days I wouldn’t plan a trek across Ireland. Stay closer to the east coast.

caithuait · 01/07/2018 15:32

Clare is absolutely stunning. Fly into Shannon and travel to places like Ballyvaughan. Absolutely beautiful.

HelenUrth · 01/07/2018 15:33

The Burren - Google it. Also look up the Wild Atlantic Way, there are various points which can be done as a standalone trip.

DramaAlpaca · 01/07/2018 15:33

I agree with Chazs about travelling times in Ireland. The Wicklow area is a good suggestion as you are short on time.

Member341379 · 01/07/2018 15:34

If near Dublin go to Newgrange. amazing (book before you go) and do Nowth and Newgrange.

caithuait · 01/07/2018 15:36

If you go to Meath, go to the hill of Tara. The Battle of The Boyne site is a beautiful place to walk and has lovely gardens. There are just oodles of lovely hotels and places to eat around but Bellinter House near Navan is one of my favourites - it has a lovely spa.

caithuait · 01/07/2018 15:38

I have a million recommendations but keep out of Templebar which is a tourist trap. There are lots of beautiful stately homes and castles in Ireland too.

caithuait · 01/07/2018 15:40

Ok last recommendation - if you go to the wild atlantic way - drop into the burren perfumery where they make amazing perfumes.burrenperfumery.com/

Kinsale

If you are flying into Dublin for a few days I recommend you stay on the west coast. Wicklow is lovely. We stayed in Druids Glen and it was lovely. Fantastic service. It has lovely grounds for walks. We drove to Bray and walked along the beach. We also went to Powerscourt Waterfalls and then did the house ans gardens. We had a lovely relaxing few days.
Or if you don't mind driving an hour or two I would also recommend Kilkenny or Waterford. Although Kilkenny is busy and may not be as relaxing as you are looking for. Waterford has a new Greenway so you can cycle on that and there are pretty beaches etc. Enjoy your holiday.
